Escort is not a bad name for a car like this. It is better then Festiva or Aspire!

I am glad they can actually name a car without having to use an "F" name. :happy feet:

It will be called Fiesta, and not look anything like that (doh)

Hands down agreed on naming the B-sedan Escort. There are hundreds of thousands of Escorts still on the road, all reliably serving their owners. Escort is synonymous with affordable, reliable, and fuel-efficient transportation, and I think people will warm to it. Fiesta, although a decent name, isn't worth the marketing campaign needed to get the name out there... Escort's reputation in this country is already built.

Mistake #1

It may be a global name, but it means nothing in the U.S. market. Escort would be the logical choice because of brand identity, or did you forget Alan recently renamed a vehicle because the name didn't have any recognition?

I have to agree. "Fiesta" will remind people of the "Festiva", which for the most part won't be good. I say "Escort" or maybe even "Maverick".

Most must not remember the Fiesta, before the Escort. ..and yes, it was here in America.

I do, but most will not. Most people in the market for Ford's new "B" car will have been born after the last Fiesta was imported here, but most of them will remember the Kia based Festiva as a "POS". The intended demographic will confuse the Fiesta name with Festiva.

No don't sully Maverick.

Escort is good.

I like Escort, but Maverick will work too, especially if the bring back the Bronco. That would give Ford three "Equine" products.

Wow thats a horrible photoshop!

I like either the Escort or Feista name...my family had 5 Escorts and a 79 Feista and they where all pretty good cars except the 82 Wagon, which couldnt get out of its own way

thumbs up on Escort...name is INSTANTLY recognizable as Ford, as is Taurus, Bronco, not sure about Maverick, Mustang obviously...anyone else have any minikers distinctly recognizable as a Ford product...barring Edsel of course...Galaxie?

Good Lord, Escort? The econobox that either lost or wasn't good enough to make the field for any comparison test since 1985?

Yeah, boy, let's prop up THAT name...

Sign me up under Fiesta. A positive name already in global use for the car.

In all fairness, the same could have been said about the Taurus.
