wescoent
Lincoln needs this car in showrooms as fast as they can build and ship it. Pent up demand from old Lincoln owners ALONE will drive sales at first.
waymondospiff
Good to hear. Here's to hoping for the Twin-Force to be available at launch (Not ANOTHER Ford launch where you need to wait for the "competitive" engine package.), an interior straight out of the concept - complete with hand-stitched leather dash top, every "must-have" luxury feature, and, hopefully, a surprise V8 announcement. wescoent
... and, hopefully, a surprise V8 announcement. Scott The BASE V6 in the MKS will probably be more powerful than any V8 that could fit... so why?
RichardJensen
This vehicle should have debuted at Detroit, and for sale in the spring. No. It should've debuted in Frankfurt in 1996 and been on sale the next month. There's one in every crowd.

igor
08CY summer apparently... I was hoping to see the MKS in Detroit, ah well. If the car is revealed in LA, it will be shown in Detroit .. no doubt about that .. finally, the source of this piece was accidental - so there are 2 things that are a little strange - the source mentioned LED headlamps and 315hp V8 - we did not expect either. However the writer of the piece did not follow up on those two pieces with the original source - but he will follow up otherwise .. Ford now we at least have indication the Lincoln will be in LA instead of Detroit or New York. Igor
old_fairmont_wagon
Frankly, if you're going to be a stickler about things, this vehicle should have been ready to go the moment the Continental quit shipping. Their next chance was the moment the LS quit shipping. Either way, I'm glad that it's coming at all. And, I don't want to see no stinking compromised Yamaha v8 in this thing. Unless they've given it a serious shot in the arm (and borrowed a tranny from someone that can take the torque) it's going to get torched in the press when its compared to the competition. MERKURXR4Ti
yeah a 315hp v8 isn't going to cut it in this thing's crowd. Side note, some of the best looking fender vents I've seen are on that concept picture, almost makes you forget how silly and trivial they are these days

Bagrah01
When, in the recent history of Ford Motor Company, have they released a class leading engine or engine technology, with the exception of the SOHC triton, during the intial launch? FMC should just label everything * late availability. :reading: The twin force would be something to take the emphasis off the cars lucklasterness, but alas, it will won't be available to after they change the vehicle's name or initial sales and/or interest slows. Production model, well everyone knows my feeling on that. MKS concept lucklaster, dull, boring, derivative, not exciting. Production model, I can only imagine. I can almost guarantee it will not debut with a TwinForce turbo.

BMW didn't launch the most recent 3-series with either the twin turbo 6 cylinder OR an M3. The CTS didn't launch with a CTS-V variant. The E-Class didn't debut with an AMG version at launch. A 300+ HP 3.7 V6 should be plenty to hold it over for however many months it takes for the TwinForce to follow it up.

A brand that once could have been mentioned in the same sentence as BMW, Jaguar, Cadillac, Lexus, Infinti, Mercedes, etc. but now is far from them. Because compared to the "competition" (Avalon, Lucerne, Maxima, etc.) that it capable of being sporty and compliant it will definately be a land yaht. BMW didn't introduce the 3-series with the twin turbo, because it didn't have to. Mercedes didn't introduce a AMG C or E class because they didn't have to. More importantly fans of these brands didn't sit idlely on message forum wondering if there would be a M or AMG variant of their favorite vehicle, because there is always an M or AMG powered variant. Cadillac built a solid luxury rep with the first CTS and expanded on its initial successes with a decidely better CTS, not to mention Escalade. Seconding they delivered with high powered V-series varients of its models. Hell we know Mazda was able to produce a 3.7L engine, but that doesn't mean Ford is capable of the same feats. Lincoln had a shot, but its two world class offerings, 2nd generation Navigator and LS, were mutilated and murdered. Now, anything short of "class leading" "gorgeous" "powerful" "fuel efficient" "innovative" etc. will be with :happy feet: by Ford/Lincoln faithful cheerleading squad and :reading: by everyone else. We all know that the 3.7L will be the debut engine in this car. How is it that you do not know this. Also, Mazda didn't produce the 3.7L engine, they are just the first ones to use it. You do realize that the 3.7L is just Fords 3.5L Duratec with more torque................. right??? The Lincoln version is supposed to have "more" technology. Finally, if you can add nothing but negativity based on NOTHING (as in, the car has been shown to noone, and Ford has already said that it does look different from the concept), then why even bother?? Could you be related to pc, by any chance???

Match that with the also rumored dual clutch PowerShift and AWD and you have a winner. The upcoming TF version will just be a bonus IMO. Bagrah01
Jaguar can be mentioned in the same sentence as Cadillac, BMW and Mercedes? Bullcrap. When is the last time you saw a 420HP, Aluminum chassis, coupe from Lincoln that could rip to 60 in under five seconds, and produce an exhaust note that sounds, to quote Jeremy Clarkson "like Tom Jones gargling a Nascar"?
