thats today..wait till next week..if anybody thinks we will not see a 2010 KR i personally think they are nuts...i see no reason ford will not make more KR's in the future (6.2L KR?????????)..demand is there..why would ford just give up and walk away from the demand...have a blessed 09 dean....

Ford might have no chance but to give up. So, how many actual engineers are still sweating the entire Twin Force/Eco Boost vapourware that was supposed to revolutionize the powertrain division again?

I suggest that the SVT group is now a bunch of guys not unlike the old RamChargers group in the dog years of the early 60's at Dodge.

That is, dodging and ducking the boss.

WAAAAAY outside the purview of the job at hand.

I was hoping for an aluminum block and maybe a Watt's rear suspension.

ps, do you folks think I should put off the delivery of my 09 CTS-V for the coupe?

yes it it..i suspect by 2011 when the new powertrains arrive it will be over $55k......thats just crazy for a stang..but WTH..if those people want 700 bux a monthly payment its there business and there pain every month

Where are you pulling these numbers from? I know that a fully Loaded Mustang GT has gone up considerably, but its mostly due to stupid options you really dont need if you don't want them..

Unfortunately prices will always go up and not down. The avg cost of a new car is around 30K

Face it, your buying a 540HP Pony car, what else on the market offers that much HP for that price?

i agree..problem is at $51k for the 2010 who will be able to afford?????..and its not like this market segment is growing..i guess that 15K strong group can trade off there 07's-09's and get the 2010...that i suspect is what will fuel 2010 sales..fact is the pony market at $51k is just damn small....money just aint there anymore

I agree Snooter. Why would anybody buy one of these when a Corvette can be had cheap these days. The bottom has fallen out of them and they will out perform a GT500 in every thing you can imagine. I like the GT500 but its too pricey for me when a new vette can be had for 40K everyday of the week. I just cant afford a Mustang like this one though I would love to have one.

Maybe because a base Vette isn't so special?

Besides, nobody has seen what the 2010 GT500 will do, however, it's basically a KR, just like the new GT is pretty much a mechanical copy of the Bullitt. And we know the KR is good for a full G on the skidpad, over 70mph on the slalom, and 60-0 in 109 feet, and a 12.1 in the quarter.

Looks like it'll dust a base Vette..

Oh God...can we please get over the weight complaints...didn't we already do this 2 or 3 years ago???? You aint going to see a Mustang light like a Fox body.

true...weight is up and if they were allowed to reduce some of the safety nazi stuff MPG would increase...you have to give kudos to detroit for giving very respectible MPG while being forced to adhere to the safety nazis (aka weight)...far as weight goes..same bitchin happened in the 60's and early 70's....by 1971 mustang was basically a lead boat compared to 1965....we were just damn lucky the fox body was so light...unfortunately in this time the mustang will not be a light weight warrior

CTS Coupe? Speaking of vapourware.......

The 71-3 Stangs were HUGE compared to the first ones. But the Boss 351 was also one of, if not THE quickest bone stock Mustang up to that point. IIRC, not even the Boss9 cars could hit the mid 13s stock like the Boss351s could.

You can't say that! A C6 Vette isnt holding value or a Z06 or a ZR1? Compare that stuff Apples to Apples. The GT500 is not a base level vehicle, so if it wasn't holding its value I'd say something was a problem!!!!!

my point exactly..the ONLY ones close to retaining value are the special editions....and guess what...they had addendums......fact is someone used the words "base" Vette...case closed.

Apples to apples = $50K GT500 to $50K Corvette, not $50K GT500 to $70K Z06 or $100K ZR1.

It would be interesting to see what the values of GT500KR's and GT500 SuperSnakes are in another couple decades compared to those Z06's and ZR1's though.

????? Where are you getting these #s, snooty? A loaded 2009 GT500 coupe stickers for about $45,000, and even with a price increase, you're no where near $55,000. Your first post had you putting them at $50,000, which was still high, but closer. Then you shot up to $55,000, and pretty soon you'll probibly have them in ZR-1 territory, so I guess you start to make sense then... Which is good, because for a second, I thought you had no idea what you were talking about. :shades:

In my experience, the guy that buys the Shelby puts down a good chunk of coin, and finances the rest.

If anyone wants a deal on a 2009 GT500 conv., let me know. We're closin' the doors at the end of the month, and any reasonable offer grabs this car. No more bitchin' about payin' over sticker!!!!!

I love it. The Mustang is lighter than every car it competes against, and is always being called "porky".

Mustang: 3600 lbs.

Camaro: 4000 lbs.

Challenger: 4200 lbs

Charger: 4200 lbs.

Eclipse GT : 3800 lbs. ??????????

Two reasons why someone would buy the GT500 over the vette............(IMO of course):

I personally think the vette is nasty ugly (especially the huge/wide/chopped off butt)

And occasionally I do need a back seat. Not that the stang has much of one, but I have put people back there for VERY short trips.

(and I'm sneaking in a 3rd point)..........it's hard for me to overlook the Viagra,gold-chain,bad hairpiece vette image either...sorry

hmm. after 3 plus years...

g f y ,

just sayin'...

and you wonder where the walk in factor went, when I bought my niece her Mazda 3, when I told the neighbour lady to look at the Fusion (07) and I went round and round with my buddy who sells P, B, Caddies.

If this is still the attitude, get it or else, the entire thing deserves to be on the hook.

PULL IT.

nothing bad will happen.

Its in the same price range, Meaning they compete. Comparing a Z06/ZR1 to a GT500 is rediculous. But comparing a Base Vette to a GT500 is a valid point.

Interesting debate. I think there is one thing that is skewing the numbers though when it comes to GT500 resale values. The cars that are coming up for sale now are most likely those that were bought when you could not get one for sticker. Right now it is difficult to find a low mileage 07 GT500 for much less than a brand new 09 and I have to believe that is mostly because the sellers paid a high ADM when they bought these cars. At some point the used market will begin to correct itself when more cars are resold that did not originally sell at a high markup.
