Edstock
and like I said there are some MKT elements in it (not in a good way). Please show us, or all we have here is brain-fart opinion.
akirby
Please show us, or all we have here is brain-fart opinion. I had the same brief impression from one of the side shots. It's pretty subtle though. Trying to find that shot for comparison.
akirby
Ok, I think it was the slight curve over the rear wheel, but looking at the actual vehicles side by side it's not even close. They do have 4 doors and 4 wheels and paint, but aside from that there isn't really any resemblance there.
Mark B. Morrow
http://www.carstyling.ru/en/car/1966_ford_ranger_ii/ A '65 Mustang bench seat and Shelby wheels. Cool. I have not seen that one before.

RichardJensen
I see a much stronger resemblance to the MKC. Edited January 16, 2015 by RichardJensen

SoonerLS
I'm not gonna lie--at first glance, I though the upper image was of the Edge. It took a quick google to convince myself that it was the Lincoln...
RichardJensen
There is a similarity in the D pillar
LincolnV
Thank you for posting those side-by-side profile shots Edstock. I've always felt that the issue with the MKT is the massive grill. When it came out it looked like a train cow-catcher, with the refined blades it looks like a blue whale ready to catch some krill.
Anthony
That side view of the MKT actually reminds me a lot of the MKS with a big ass (which, it kind of is). Seriously, put your hand over the back half of it and you'll think it's an MKS.
Edstock
Just wondering if the MKT was styled with the old large K series in mind. These are from 1936.

The kick up on the rear doors was definitely inspired by the '61-'65 Continental.
atomcat68
The MkT actually looks good from the side. I think it is the front and the back that kill it. This is too bad as at least the front would be the easiest thing to fix. The problem is that before the restyle, it was 100% crappy and after it was 90% crappy. The big yacht back has so much wrong with it, it would actually look better if the rear hatch fell off.

Yeah it looks crook alright, makes me wonder if the squarer Flex would have done a better job in the MKT role.. You couldn't go past a nice 3-Row Explorer based SUV as MKT's replacement, whether SWB or LWB. Lincoln could have a very formidable Utility line up in the near future, that may give the suits more confidence to go much further with the car side and do some really exciting vehicle as counterpoints for the Utes.. ANTAUS
I always hated vehicles with droopy asses. Thats why Porsche has never done anything for me, of the Maybach, last Tbird, Oviod Taurus/Sable, etc. The MKT was another blunder in the "What were they thinking" bus. Just like Blackwood where taking the utility aspect of it away, made it fail, same with the MKT. They gave it a third row you can barely get kids in with that low sloping roof. mustang_sallad
...Volt (with nothing more than a slight refresh)... Oh please... This thing was improved significantly in a number of ways. New engine, giving increased performance and efficiency, better NVH. New battery, with significant increase in EV range and increased interior space. Completely new sheet metal. How is that a "slight refresh"?
akirby
All minor tweaks if you ask me. A lot of them, but all minor.
papilgee4evaeva
All minor tweaks if you ask me. A lot of them, but all minor. I tend to disagree. Only because the 2010 Fusion received fewer changes than that and I wouldn't dare call that "minor." This is more akin to the change from the 2009 to the 2011 Mustang. akirby
Ok, it's a significant refresh. It's still just a refresh.
