DeluxeStang
Seems like it'll be a new edition for the s650 gt, maybe something with a bit more power or something. But can someone explain why the teaser they're showing looks less like an s650, and more like a sedan? Maybe I'm nuts, but the more upright greenhouse and longer trunk doesn't look like a coupe to me.
jpd80
I wonder if this announcement is the above vehicles on sale as limited edition or is it something else….. Edited August 10 by jpd80

Yes the 60th anniversary appearance pack was released back in April, the other commemoration could be the ‘65 Shelby GT350. A really cool Mustang with the 500 hp Dark Horse engine?

I think the camera angle is a little elevated making it seem taller.

It's possible, it could also just be some AI generated image from Ford entering the prompt "Car under sheet" or something like that. I'm guessing we'll see the reveal at Pebble Beach like we did with the GTD last year.

Maybe deliberate camera angle distortion to encourage speculation Edited August 10 by jpd80

rmc523
I’m sure it’ll be the latest sticker package lol. they say it’s a limited edition coupe in the announcement.

Maybe the sheet pulled tight over spoiler could make it look like it has longer truck???? On the other hand, the original Mustang fastback (like the 65 I owned a long time ago) had a little truck at the rear; unlike 67 and later. Maybe Ford will create a limited number of a retro variant to celebrate original fastback, though I expect it would be completely cost prohibitive. Most likely just a normal Mustang with minor modifications.

Not to mention Ford's already given us all the details of the 60th anniversary. We know what it looks like, the features, the pricing and availability. So while it looks like they might showcase that further, I don't understand all the secrecy for something you've already revealed.
Andrew L
a spoiler under that cover could distort the shape of it too making the trunk appear longer than it is too
CurtisH
Maybe it’s a convertible. They do have a bit of a different roofline.

But we've already seen the 60th anniversary edition convertible alongside the coupe. It could just be a redundant reveal, showing the same package, just to a different audience. But that seems kinda pointless, particularly for what amounts to little more than a sticker package.

Ford likes to do this with Mustang packages. I will say the leading edge of the hood has a different curve at the very front.....I highly doubt it's anything but a sticker package. rmc523
Not sure if it's related to what we're seeing in this thread, but apparently dealers were shown some renderings/photos of a few different Mustang variants, including a potential 4-door. Ford Mustang Four Door, Off-Road Variants Shown To Dealers: Report (fordauthority.com) According to Automotive News, FoMoCo recently showed dealers renderings, mockups, and photos of some future Ford Mustang variants, which included a four-door coupe reportedly called the Mach 4, as well as a lifted, off-road, Baja-style model with rugged tires, an RTR-modified Mustang EcoBoost with a $40k price tag, and a high-performance, V8-powered convertible that looked a lot like the older Shelby GT350/GT500 variants, albeit, sans any Shelby badging. Ford didn’t provide any timelines for these potential Mustang variants, and it collected the phones of attending dealers before showing them off, meaning that no photos leaked out. Regardless, dealers in attendance saw this as Ford’s attempt to aggressively expand a vehicle that competes in a segment that other automakers have largely abandoned, and believe that The Blue Oval is seriously considering putting those variants into production. 1
spudz64
Seems 10am EST is this reveal tomorrow. On the Mustang page they have a short teaser video, that shows same details from the previously shown 60th anniversary package. It would be lame to make this all about something we already saw so let’s hope for a surprise or two tomorrow! https://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/2024/?gnav=header-suvs-vhp Edited August 15 by spudz64 Grammar

You know dealers are gonna tell people what you showed them anyway, so just show us. Like I swear to God bro, if they show up to pebble beach just to show people their sticker package, I'm gonna be so disappointed 😆.

Eh, I take the opposite approach - unless we're expecting something specific (like Navigator this evening, for instance), I have low expectations until it's proven it's something worthwhile. There's zero reason to tease a sticker package, IMO.

T-dubz
I prefer ford not release the renderings to be honest. How many times have you seen a really cool rendering only to be disappointed by the production version? Now, if they had clay mock-ups or actual vehicles, definitely release those pics. T-dubz
Wonder what the deal is with the RTR mustang? Would it be an actual trim or just a parts package like it currently is? The off-road version sounds interesting. Could that be the same off-road mustang we heard about several months ago?

True, but I'll take a rendering over nothing at all.

I don't mind a rendering or concept if it previews something ahead in some manner (even if a design language concept). If it's a pie in the sky that doesn't go anywhere (Interceptor and MKR come to mind), that does nobody any good.
