Did we ever get any insight to what it looked like besides the totally concealed shape?

Compared to what and at what speed? Ford isn’t saying yet. Are they inferring 50 miles better than a 200 mile range or a 250 mile range? I can see excellent aero improvements adding 50 miles at 70 mph but not during city driving.

I am a little concerned that applying radical aero could hurt design appeal. But the team is claiming this isn't the case. That balancing aesthetics and aero is very important for this project. So hopefully it's not a repeat of the three row shitshow. The response from people who've seen the truck seems to be overwhelmingly positive, so that's a good sign. -
Slate Auto Raises $650M as $25K Electric Pickup Nears Launch - Autoblog Slate Auto initially drew attention with plans to sell electric vehicles for under $20,000. However, that pitch shifted after the loss of the $7,500 federal tax credit last September 2025, prompting the company to revise its expected starting price to the mid-$20,000 range. Even so, Slate Auto continues to show signs of momentum, including backing from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The latest is a $650 million Series C funding round led by TWG Global, according to Automotive News. It will help support manufacturing at the startup’s plant in Warsaw, Indiana, as the company works to deliver its first electric pickup truck later this year. A report from TechCrunch states that Slate Auto has raised roughly $1.4 billion to date. TWG Global has been investing in the company since 2024, with its most recent funding round seen as a boost as production nears. In addition to securing funding, the startup has also made a structural change by appointing Peter Faricy as its new chief executive officer. Faricy, a former vice president of Amazon Marketplace, is expected to help build a similar platform that makes it easy for customers to purchase vehicle accessories. Chris Barman, who served as CEO when the brand launched in 2022, has since shifted to overseeing manufacturing, engineering, and design.

And no one is concerned that Ford is down the same path again using aero to make the battery smaller and cheaper for Ford.

This is what happens when you launch a vehicle and retail buyers ignore it. My understanding is that Ford’s contract with VW means that it must build an agreed number of the EV Explorer and this is a means to that end.

These seem like solid things, but hard to tell with the darkness.

I think part of the issue your seeing is that certain people who buy EVs are have a superiority complex that manifests itself with products like this-they are being "different" for the sake of being different. like that steering wheel design. Or ones that own Teslas and are slapping other makes names/badges on them after Elon went off the deep end in their eyes-a coworker took a photo of a Tesla X that has a Civic and Honda badge on the back of it. IMO if your that worried about your image with a car, maybe get a new one? FFS! -

Good eye, this, but the graphics are reversed. On the old one, it's mostly grille and the three openings are mostly on the solid hood. On the new one, the three lights are on part of a contrasting section and the rectangular shape is now solid metal instead of a grille opening. -
It looks like they were using the first-gen Pathfinder as inspiration
