Which government policy benefits oil companies and automakers? Certainly not CAFE. Certainly not EV tax rebates or pending legislation outlawing ICE altogether. Democrat goverment policy cost automakers tens of billions of dollars and created artificial demand. All because liberals screamed that SUVs would burn up the planet and drown coastal cities. Certainly not the chicken tax (stupid as it is) because the Japanese already build light trucks here and the Koreans may be following suit. Nobody is forcing consumers to buy larger trucks and suvs. A Rav4 is more expensive than Camry and corolla but outsells both. Toyota/Lexus still has a full lineup of cars yet trucks and suvs outsold cars last year 1.8M to 700k. That's not lack of product or government policy it's simple consumer preference.

Huh? Mavericks don't have 4,000 lbs of payload! Towing, yes, but not payload. Hell, my F350 doesn't even have 4k lbs of payload. -

If the decrease is indeed due to the added GPF (which I imagine it is), you can likely look underneath and if you have a GPF, know you've got 385. If not, you've got 400. The 99 Cobra came to mind when you mentioned that, but that's a whole different ballgame. Yes, it's the same concept, but it's meant for all-out performance, where the Explorer is not. I see your point, but I'm pretty sure in the Ford literature it says (in fine print none-the-less) that specifications are subject to change. It sucks, mostly in principle, but at the end of the day, it's minor compared to most of the cost cutting Ford is doing (and this isn't a cost-cutting or de-contenting issue, it's trying to keep up with emissions). You won't notice 15 less HP, but you'll damn sure notice that missing Homelink opener on the visor, or the now-gone keypad on the door. -
Yep. And the new rivian r2 is going to give the mach e a run for its money. IMO it’s a much more interesting EV with similar price and performance, but better looks and abilities. I think it has almost 4” more ground clearance than the Mach e.
