I'm assuming the Maverick SUV is the Bronco Sport sister product.
The Maverick is quite a bit longer then the Bronco Sport and the Escape. The Transit Connect is either 173.9 inches (SWB)/(LWB): Approximately 189.7 to 190 inches...since there apparently a Va n coming too.
I can see the Maverick based SUV being a Edge/Escape replacement that has Bronco type styling? It would avoid it being a commodity product that Ford has been railing about.
At first glance, I'm still thinking this is the Maverick SUV. Doesn't make sense for them to be adding CE1 SUV, next-gen Bronco Sport, Maverick CUV, AND another C2 hybrid only SUV.
Thinking about it more, I suppose it's possible, as Maverick SUV could be an Escape replacement, with this other C2 hybrid only model being an Edge replacement, but I'm skeptical.
The hang up is the "sister" phrasing - does that mean another Bronco product, or just closely related to BS without the name?
Here you go:
A new C2 Hybrid only SUV appears to have been approved but won’t arrive until 2029 for MY30. This will be a sister to the next Bronco Sport.
With how often Ford changes plans, who knows....
I'm guessing the Maverick SUV will be somewhere between Escape and Edge.
I don't remember the 2029 Bronco CUV rumor.
So I guess the plan going forward is this:
New Bronco Sport from Spain
New CUV based on the Maverick that will be larger-Maybe an Edge replacement?
Maverick based Van
But wasn't there also rumors of another CUV Bronco product coming in 2029 to NA?
I believe the chicken tax is only for trucks/commercial......remember when Ford tried to skirt around it with Transit Connect by shipping them in with rear seats (making it a passenger vehicle) that they'd then remove to sell the work van?
Eh......sort of.......seems more reactionary than a plan.
That's a great point about RHD being baked into this.....opens up sending them down under too, where I think it'd be a great offering.
BS is set for a redesign regardless, so PHEV wouldn't have been retrofitted to ours at this point anyway.
Definitely a good idea to take BS global, IMO.
