If the decrease is indeed due to the added GPF (which I imagine it is), you can likely look underneath and if you have a GPF, know you've got 385. If not, you've got 400. The 99 Cobra came to mind when you mentioned that, but that's a whole different ballgame. Yes, it's the same concept, but it's meant for all-out performance, where the Explorer is not. I see your point, but I'm pretty sure in the Ford literature it says (in fine print none-the-less) that specifications are subject to change. It sucks, mostly in principle, but at the end of the day, it's minor compared to most of the cost cutting Ford is doing (and this isn't a cost-cutting or de-contenting issue, it's trying to keep up with emissions). You won't notice 15 less HP, but you'll damn sure notice that missing Homelink opener on the visor, or the now-gone keypad on the door. -
Yep. And the new rivian r2 is going to give the mach e a run for its money. IMO it’s a much more interesting EV with similar price and performance, but better looks and abilities. I think it has almost 4” more ground clearance than the Mach e.

The next paragraph in that article makes for interesting reading, Farley as CEO of Ford cannot work out how a vertically integrated battery maker like BYD can sell the Shark 6 at a profit. Maybe the Chinese governmeBYD way more financial support than the US Government gives manufacturers like Ford….. The issue is that Ford has produced a PHEV primarily as a diesel replacement for Europe but for Australian customers the needs and usage is quite different. Although the Ranger puts up a fine effort it is found wanting mostly because Ford severely detuned the power of the 2.3 Ecoboost to 138 Kw 184 hp @ 4,600 and 411 nm 304 lbft @ 2,700 which comes strongly into play when towing 7,000 lb trailer at highway speed with no hybrid assistance. Mind you, Shark 6 gets into trouble in the same situation when the battery is depleted and the 1.5 turbo has to manage the lot with only that direct drive available over 70 kph 45 mph.

Can I tell the difference between 385 and 400 by the seat of the pants, probably not, but that really isn’t the point. I can’t find any information in the order guide and the dealer didn’t know anything about the power change. I’ve shown examples of the information Ford was providing at the time of the purchase. Would I still have bought the vehicle, I personally would not have, but my wife bought the vehicle so I can’t speak for her. This is not the only reason I wouldn’t have bought it, I just believe they decontented it too much to justify the purchase and I wouldn’t recommend it to others unless they could get an amazing deal on it. I am going to email Ford customer service to ask them if they can tell me how to determine what my power rating is. Mostly out of curiosity at this point. I don’t know if you recall the 99 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra lawsuit regarding the power rating not being what was stated on their documentation. It does seem there are many in the forums that were not aware of this change. I mention this for the sake of discussion.

I’m not sure how I feel about it, more specifically the fastback. I definitely don’t hate it, but I like the current one, though a little long in the tooth. I’ll need to see some more pics to pass final judgment.
