  2. It looks like Ford has made it official that MY22 Super Duties will be manufactured until December 21 and the MY23 order banks open up October 17. The MY22/23 SD news is around the 33 minute mark. June SD production and scheduling info around the 51 minute mark.

  4. My vision of the future and the way Ford should go is to turn its franchised dealers into commission sales centers. Ford sets the price and the dealer gets a fixed commission on each model based on the final price. The dealer is also provided with floor models at 0 cost for customers to test drive, examine options, and just plain touch and feel. This would happen every 3 to 6 months or so. Dealer would determine what the option mix is on the floor models based on what they think buyers in that area value. After the new floor model arrives, the dealer can sell the floor model as a used vehicle and keep the proceeds. The allocation system would disappear for customer orders. Basically it would be a first in, first delivered system (as much as possible, supply chain and all), and therefore it would no longer matter how many orders a dealer had or if it was their mother's brother's cousin's nephew ordering it, all orders are equal with only the time mattering. Ordering could be done online or in person at the dealer. In any case the dealer would not be floor planning any new vehicle. Every order that is made would require a deposit, dependent on the price as ordered. The pricing would be locked in at the time of order and that would reflected on the window sticker. As production gets back to normal levels and as capacity allows (customer orders less than capacity), dealers would have the option to stock up to a 30 day supply of vehicles to allow for immediate sales for those people that can't wait (i.e. accidents/thefts). Pricing of all new vehicles would be fixed, without addon's or markups. Any extra packages would be optional. Document fee's would be limited to the lower of $300 or that maximum that each state allows. Ford would incentivize dealers by paying monthly bonuses for high customer satisfaction ratings. Rebates would go away, as Ford would be able to dynamically adjust pricing or put things "On Sale" to help move inventory. This kind of system would be more transparent to the end customer.

  7. no ...its not skewed at all...every dealer is different, and your experiences are most likely dependent on your location... theres good and bad Dealers, I don't deny that, and the experience can be horrid...so NO its NOT skewed in the slightest, Im a realist, nothing more nothing less........but YOU guys are most definitely skewed with blanket statements..I understand FULLY the desire for convenience from a customers standpoints, its basically exactly how I maintain my own clients, they are typed and are in and out in 15 minutes...it DOES promote customer loyalty and referrals. That said this "all about me " mentality Im witnessing from "newer" buyers in some cases has become somewhat extreme...and the "wish lists " are missing an AWFUL lot of details that are glossed over in the interests of ones own convenience...and lets face it, like to admit it or not...basic laziness. Ok...lets take this online BS everyone thinks is the greatest thing since sliced bread...lets compare it with buying a handsaw from Amazon, and SPECIFICALLY how Captain P4G stated he would love to order a truck from Amazon, I can get on there and do that in 10 minutes right?...sounds like a GREAT way to order a 100k F450….Does that handsaw need to be PDI'ed"....does it have a 55 page ordering guide?...does it incur State AND county taxes?...do you need to supply a Federally accepted form of ID and Drivers licence to purchase? Does it require a trip to the DMV to registed? Does it require a full blown Credit application AND bank approval if being financed...after all, its a tad different that breaking it up into 4 $37 payments.....does it require Insurance? …. but no...god forbid you need to spend some of your precious time completing the second largest acquisition of your life....jeez. The Amazon business model may appeal to you guys, but its not happening soon and is absolutely raft with potential issues, some which may be as unpleasurable as whayt you outlined...so for right now its nothing more than a pipe dream, so I would suggest you guys adamant about "convenience " pull the pants up a bit and deal with it..you do NOT have to put up with the BS you outlined, and seriously half the stuff mentioned...is that seriously STILL around?...that's as bad as "etch a glass and undercoating " You guys got electricity yet, and running water?...lol...I do think Ford will simplify the process, but they will firstly need to simply there ordering matrix's, BUT theres no avoiding certain process that are incurred when purchasing a vehicle...its not just hitting "ENTER" on a keyboard...there HAS to be accountability, espec ially given all the "flakes" we encounter with massive dreams and no ability to fufil them....So, you can state my view is "skewed" but I literally deal with it day to day...do you guys?...anyone?...or are you just basically voicing your OWN skewed opinions...I think we may perhaps BOTH be a tad guilty...rant over. Fiesty?...lol...you try living with being White ( racist ) Hetrosexual ( lack of empathy ) working ( lean Republican ) AND being a sales rep for 30 plus years ( scumbag just a step above Lawyers )

I will update the thread for each major milestone (VIN # available, scheduled for production, window sticker available, vehicle control options visible in Lincoln App, build completed, vehicle shipped, delivered, and picked up) If you anyone has any MY23 Aviator's on order, post your timelines below so we can help each other out and gauge the progress of these vehicles. 10. Was just watching a video on a comparison between f250 and F350. The guy owned both of them he had 2017 F250 and a 2019 F350. Both of his trucks has a front axle weight of 5990. I just purchased a 2022 F350 platinum 6.7. My front axle weight is 5200. I do not have the snow plow package on mine, not sure if he had them on his or. It. Does the different packages you have change the number they use for the front axle ?

  11. Well, finally some good news! After 10 months and many months of being rescheduled. The truck I order on 8/6 has a build DAY of 6/20. Fingers still crossed that it actually happens and then how long will it take to actually get shipped and delivered! Hoping not to hit the 365 day mark at least!

  12. correct to a point...I PERSONALLY could not be moved forward...Ford does in fact set priorities NOW because of commodity issues, perhaps not so much in the past but times have changed and theres different circumstances ...we literally get told to delete certain options if they want to move forward or have their priority changed...so yes...they can and do set order priority...Ive had 10s go to 12s and 19s and then cancelled...changes NOT instigated here at the Dealer level, we can jimmy here and there but that's based on allocation ( and that's something else controlled NOT by the Dealer ) . VVR...ok, you really want to go down that road? Its wholly inaccurate and the info doesn't come from the Dealer in any way or form, we can only relay what we can look up and 99% of the time it makes us look like bloody idiots, so Ill raise my hand and state Im literally hesitant...I could give you a run down of the VVR on my Bronco Sport for proof if you wish...total JOKE. Or, let be more current, the truck I had arrive today that on VVR shows is still in Kansas on a rail car? as for conveying bad info or just being too lazy to look it up , that's another issue, but flip is you CAN realy the provided info and then look like a friggen dumb ass. I do get your points akirby, but theres a LOT of comments posted that reflect a customer "victim" mentality that borders on intolerable....and its ALWAYS the Dealers fault, and granted sometimes that is the issue, just not 100%. The ONLY thing youll ever read on forums and the likes are people complaining basically, so yeah, I avoid them, they complain specifically thinking it will make some sort of difference, majority of the time it doesnt. I personally hate that whiney bullshit, especially when the individual relays its because they cant get catered to in specific manners they expect as THEIR time is incredibly valuable and they don't want it wasted, or if they have to make any effort at all, OR if it takes longer than they thought it would..... funny how that relates to some Customers AND some Dealers, like I stated...two sides to the coin.... patience and manners are dying habits on both sides...maybe next time youre in the market you should head down here...lol...seriously I don't have the time or patience for all the BS you've outlined, let alone experienced first hand..

  13. yeah I feel like numbers wouldn’t be too bad if they had actual parts/chips to build to demand.
    1 point
  14. all valid points, but theres two sides to every coin, some we like some we dont...lets analyse...one can calculate rough OTD prices rather easily if you know your selling price and tax rate...or am I missing something?. Trades...understand that completely...but low balling aside how do you value a car now given a 6 month wait between order date and delivery...and theres also CARMAX if you want a bid date. Clueless sales people and managers...no excuse barring what I stated about job longevity, and that will continue to decline given Income declining due to ever decreasing profit margins. Not a career I would recommend in the slightest. Not managing priorities on retail orders?...lost me there, but not sure how someone can or should be moved up the line over someone else that potentially ordered earlier or doesn't have any commodity issues. VVR...FORD manages Vin Verification not the Dealers, and thgey screw it up regularly ...Price Protection...with you 100%, I think some dealers are gobbling it up...I know we are actually scared of Fords promise it will turn up in the statement in 3 or so months as we have had to fight tooth and nail to be re-imbursed SEVERAL times only to be turned down....if we pass that on and don't get re-imbursed...who eats it?...yep...the Dealer...so that's an ongoing issue, and I have one Transit where the difference is $3900...so what do we do?...that's HUGE!. Not telling customers where they are in the cue????? get back to me on Broncos etc that are pulled at FORDs whim and prayer...we have ZERO idea, especially now with all the supplier issues. Pushing marked up ESPs...totally agree...but they are avail online. Forcing customers to wait several hours?...yep...lets just kick out whos in Finance if its a busy day because youre here...understand people don't want to wait, thius my comments regarding lack of patience...but sometimes that happens...especially on busy days..personally I try and have everything ready before clients arrive...but occasionally I get buried and that doesnt happen...Hey, I here where you are coming from...just realize not everything is perfect and revolves around you. I just went through selling a house and it was a bloody nightmare, but realized, and more importantly ACCEPTED that there would be speed bumps and patience tried..lets not mention some of the erroneous charges...sometimes we need to grow a set and deal. And come on Kirby...DONT use Tesla as the ideal model...you should hear some of the horror stories, its most definitely NOT all roses

  15. Generic design that is the new vanilla of styling, broader audience appeal with perhaps little emotional connection. Emotion = +$$$$$$ because buyers really want it, gotta have it, above is not that vehicle and never will be, it’s an appliance purchase

  16. 7.3 with 3.55 gears. I have 4,500 miles on mine, no towing yet. My mileage depends on the terrain, speed, and drive mode. Flat, level, no wind, in eco mode, 240 mile round trip @ 75 MPH I averaged 16.5 MPG. Same drive in normal mode averaged 14.5 MPG. 620 mile round trip, lots of up and down at 80 MPH in eco mode 14 MPG. Same drive in normal mode averaged 13 MPG. Eco seemed to have to downshift more on the uphill climbs. Around town (picture small town with a stop sign or light every two blocks) sucks. In eco I get somewhere around 10, closer to 8.5-9 in normal. Normal mode is much more fun to drive, much better throttle response, but eco has its place especially on the interstate and in heavier traffic in the city. Normal in stop and go traffic in the city makes for a very jerky ride. Eco seems to smooth that out. Fortunately most of my windshield time is highway.

  22. What is the difference between Axel and axle? An axel is a figure-skating jump named after the Norwegian skater Axel Paulsen (1855-1938). It does not need to be capitalized. An axle is a rounded shaft or rod that connects two wheels. Coincidentally, this word's origins are also Norwegian; it comes from the Old Norse öxull.

  25. Obviously 90% of dealers don’t do all the bad stuff but I bet 80% or more have some issues that customers don’t like (even if it’s just not providing order info) that would be mostly solved with factory ordering at MSRP. And if you don’t believe that you haven’t been following the super duty ordering thread or any of the Bronco, Bronco Sport or Maverick internet forums and Facebook groups. It’s a never ending repeated theme. Supply chain has simply exposed these lazy and/or dishonest dealers who have been getting g away with it.

  26. Well stated...yep...the supply issue has had some dealers show their hand as such. But don't feel for a second that Ford has your back and is in no way partly responsible ....some of the Dealers utilizing these practices are also "Heavy Hitters"...yet Ford hasn't cut back on their allocation as rumored at all, and they are still at or right at the top of the Sales charts......there in lies a BIG issue in my opinion and is exceptionally two faced on Ford s behalf....you cant bemoan questionable business practices and announce youre clamping down, and punishing, only to continually reward said Dealers with larger allocations....IMO part of this online process being thrown around is the result of these ludicrous Addendums and questionable practices some are embracing... on the surface it sounds like a good concept but will come with its own set of issues, human nature is to look for the soft underbelly...someone somewhere will find it if the Business model changes...ugh.

  28. Happened to me last month on a new Nautilus. Put down a $500 deposit in transit. Sold it out from under me. We found one in stock and they offered an extra $1K discount in addition to X plan to make up for the “mistake”. Fine. Then they tried to add $1400 for Nitrogen, glass etching and paint/interior protection. So yes it’s still happening. If you read the Bronco, Bronco Sport and Maverick forums and Facebook groups the dealer shenanigans are rampant to one degree or another. These are not isolated cases. The 100% honest dealers are the rare exception.

  29. Dean - with all due respect your view of the dealership experience is completely skewed. We have to put up with bait and switch tactics, losing the keys on your trade-in to keep you there, selling a vehicle out from under you, forcing you to buy add-ons you don’t want like nitrogen and mop and glo and glass etching, hidden fees, price gouging on extended warranties - just to name a few. It’s not a pleasant experience. Now I’ve had some really good dealers that didn’t do most of that but it’s still a time consuming process. Being able to go online and order what I want in 5 minutes with a fixed known price and no surprises is a requirement to continue doing business in 2022 and beyond. It’s what consumers want. Let dealers provide test drives, answer questions, deliver the vehicle and service it. Help consumers place orders if necessary and have a small inventory of vehicles for test drives and quick sales. Adapt or die.

  31. I like jpd80's idea of a Maverick utility that could replace the Escape and may even be called Escape. Boxy styling, but a bit larger than Bronco Sport with the Maverick's powertrain, shared body components, and FWD standard. I think Ford customers prefer traditional Ford styling.

  34. It’s not about age or impatience. It’s about being able to complete a transaction 24/7 in minutes without needing to contact or put up with other people or processes and not having to negotiate or worry about ADMs. It’s the Amazon model. Not sure why that’s so difficult to understand. Maybe you’re out of touch with online purchasing.

  35. If you think only a tiny percentage don’t like dealerships you’re mistaken. We still need showrooms and service centers but not a huge pre built stock inventory. It’s too expensive and wasteful and leads to overproduction and big incentives.

  39. Sorry, I've been offline for a while. They stole a Nebo flashlight (left a $1,000 pair of binoculars right next to it). They also pulled out the owners manual. Did the same in the truck next to me. Police said they are after the card with the master door code because it can't be overwritten. Fortunately I had taken mine out. It happened at the Holiday Inn Express on University Heights by the FBI headquarters 5:30 in the afternoon (broad daylight). @iuec135elevator asked about the horn/alarm. It happened literally 1 minute after we arrived. We grabbed our bags and went in to check in. As i stepped up to the front desk, I heard the alarm. Never dreaming my truck had been broken into, I assumed I must have hit the panic button on my fob, and being the courteous type, not wanting to disturb other guests, I stepped to the front door, and hit the button to kill the alarm. Never actually looked at the truck. I am sure the thieves appreciated my not wanting to disturb others.
