NickF1011
Why doesn't Ford try to buy Mars? It makes perfect sense!!! If they own the planet before anyone colonizes it, they have guaranteed market share whenever people finally get there and need to buy a new Focus. The synergies are unrealized at this point, but the logic can't be denied.
Edstock
Buying Mars? Great idea. Ford can offer a built-in dispensor — push a button, and out pops a Mars bar! Just the thing for those long trips.

NickF1011
Ford needs a Snickers vending machine in the board room. Alan Mulally: "Alright gentlemen, I have brought you all here today to figure out how to make our North American auto unit profitable and we're not leaving until we figure it out." Voiceover: "Not going anywhere for awhile?"
ANTAUS
Ford already owns Mercury, I don't think they need Mars. I just wish they would improve Mercury like GM has improved Saturn

I just wish they would improve Mercury like GM has improved Saturn But even with all the "improvement" at Saturn, they only sold 2000 more vehicles than Mercury last month. Kinda bad considering how neglected Mercury's lineup has been.
RichardJensen
Kinda bad considering how neglected Mercury's lineup has been. And considering there are no standalone Mercury dealers, and almost no dualed Saturn dealers.....

Being a Saturn salesman must be about as exciting as being a Maytag repairman.

2005Explorer
that would only work if Mazda spat out Snickers and Volvo spat out Milky Way In this case would the Fusion, Milan and MkZ spit out a taco? (I honestly do think the CD3's are great cars and are well built, but I just had to say it.)
Joe771476
Well they used to have a Galaxie (galaxy). You could use a Mercury Comet and Meteor to get there.

If ford owned both mercury an mars...and maybe one more...they could organize them into a group like pag...then they could report their financials together....it would be so good...the losses of one planet could be hidden by the others. suv_guy_19
PAG: Planetary Asset Group That's priceless....lol....but the only thing is under that model...mercury would mean performance being that its the fastest...I don't know if that would work....mars could be a mans car and venus a womens....could work lol
RichardJensen
And Pluto could be the planet that they canceled because it wasn't popular, and it wasn't part of their 'core assets'.
TStag
Everyone nows Ford is going to buy Mars. They have been preparing for it for years. Look at the amount of ROVER's they have sent there recently....

old_fairmont_wagon
Well, there are already a couple of explorers in space (Explorer I and II). And, more than likely, the first time they travel to another planet, it will be in an expedition. But really, when will we ever escape these puns? Will it take Fusion drives? [i think there was also a ranger probe program too.]
