Dad's72Mach
Iknow this has been hashed and rehashed and that Ford really doesn't care but I just wanted to vent one last time before probably leaving these forums. I have become completely disgusted with the whole GT500 situation. I gave up on owning a GT500 last year because of ADM's and began saving to buy a GT/CS cash instead. Since then I have been lurking on several sites and reading reports(albeit few) of people paying MSRP. These along with seeing I Am Legend (I know its embarrasing but true) I began to get excited again and thought I might give another try. I have called and e-mailed stealarships from the east coast to MidWest and across the South(I'm near Memphis.) The best deal I've seen was on ebay at $2000 over which made me mad at myself because I was very tempted. I am not rich but I can afford to pay the ADM, I just refuse too! I think it's ridiculous. I have become so disillusioned I don't think I even want a GT anymore. I have been a Ford fan and in love with Mustangs since my Dad brought home his Mach 1 in 1972, but I think this is it for me. I understand the market drives the price thing but ADM's just don't make sense to me. I sure this has all been said before and will fall on deaf ears but I thought someone at Ford might want to know why they lost a lifelong fan. mach14604
Can't you just order a GT500 from the factory and not pay th ADM? Technically that should be your car and never actually go into dealers hands.

chevys
I said when they first came out I would pay 500 over invoice and thats it. People that pay the ridiculous markups are to blame. One day, these things will come down. Who would want one anyway when you can get a ls3 powered corvette that will do everything better for 40K. People are crazy for paying these prices just because of the shelby name. I have no interest in owning one ever now.

Technically that should be your car and never actually go into dealers hands. I hope you're joking. Ford is PROHIBITED BY LAW from selling vehicles directly to the public. They are only allowed to sell vehicles to dealers. The dealers are independent businesses that Ford cannot control (much as they have tried). Blame the state politicians that passed automotive franchise laws back in the 50's and 60's. This is a problem that Ford could only fix by increasing the volume, but then that defeats the purpose of having a special edition. It will correct itself. When the Ford GT came out they were stickered at $165K but sold for $225K or more. Towards the end they were selling at MSRP and every dealer had one on the floor. Deanh
Come on Deanh, hook the man up. hands tied...even factory order doesn't help due to allocation limitations....current REAL #'s on Gt500's is between 2500 -5k over....dealers only get 2 -3 a year....even dealer to dealer is at or over MSRP. atomaro
If you really want the car that much, do it. You are talking about an extra 2500 or 5k over the course of say 5 years. How much extra is that a month? You obviously aren't a pauper by any means if you are looking at a 40k car. Buy the car...tell the wife you are going to Myrtle Beach instead of Hawaii this year. Ford is PROHIBITED by law in most, if not all, states from selling vehicles directly to the public. A few years ago Ford setup a used car website where you could search for a vehicle, find it and have it delivered to the local dealer of your choice for a test drive and to close the sale. The dealers sued on the grounds that it violated auto franchise laws and they WON. I asked the VP of marketing for Lincoln one time why Lincoln didn't just require that each dealer stocks a manual transmission Lincoln LS for test drives. He said if he tried to do that he'd wind up in jail. Do a google for automotive franchise laws and you'll understand why Ford can't fix their dealer problems very easily.
