buyacargetachec
Naming ideas for Mercury's Focus-based car anyone? In general, the "M" naming-scheme seems like a nice, inexpensive way to add some cohesiveness to a 3-car lineup. Also, any name should seem at least somewhat fashionable or exotic to appeal to the fashion-conscious 20 or 30-something women to whom Mercury is targeted. Assuming that it ends up being a 4-door notchback my vote goes to "Mode" or "Modus." An exception would be "Capri" if it ends up being a 2 door or a convertible. Thoughts? I'm pretty sure Renault will object to Modus, even though it isn't sold here. How about Comet? A new Comet, now that'd be nice to see... buyacargetachec
"Comet" might be a good choice given that the very popular original introduced compacts to Mercury buyers as this new one will after a many years' absence. Still, when I hear "Comet" I think of the cleanser. Jill Wagner wannabees don't touch the stuff lest it ruin their French manicures:) I'm pretty sure Renault will object to Modus, even though it isn't sold here. How about Comet? A new Comet, now that'd be nice to see...

saintlaz1
Mercury Messenger Capri, however messenger sounds good too, but I would like to get out of the "m"

Ford Jellymoulds
Merlin after a well known engine. For those fed up with double barrel M names but want it linked to the Focus Mercury FocUM.
BORG
This is why I prefer alpha-numeric naming schemes.
mustang84isu
Mercury Mistress :P Honestly, Mercury needs to move away from 'M' names...Milan and Mariner are ok, but not everything needs to be an 'M.'

2b2
Capri, however messenger sounds good too, but I would like to get out of the "m" I *like* the M-names for regular vehicles and save the C's for sport-y models - thinking a vert/cabrio/sliding-megaBAMR-glass-roof Capri would qualify This is why I prefer alpha-numeric naming schemes. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo X 1000 'cept for XR#-names for sport-power models for the 'sedan' right under the Milan, I've preferred "Milanetto" for a long time tho admit it's a bit of a mouthful Edited September 10, 2008 by 2b2

mustang84isu
I don't know why, but Mercury Matera flows well for an "M" name (Matera is a city in Italy)
buyacargetachec
"Mode" is translated as "fashion" in French. Mercury Mode is the perfect name for this small car. Capri is still a great undamaged name if it ends up being a convertible or 2-door.
blazerdude20
might be a good idea to stay away from names that start with M. since most new lincolns start with an M, and a lot of times these two companies share a roof.
elkarlo
No need to state the obvious. LOL, you are both retards. Get out of this forum entirely. Seriously. As for names, as long as it doesn't start with an "M" I'm cool. It's a dumb scheme. Crap get some old Chinese sounding names, that crap is trendy now.
