JagXFRGuy
You will notice that Ford will have not one concept vehicle on the floor this year — not one,” said Marisa Bradley, Ford’s manager for the Detroit show. “Instead we are focusing on real vehicles, in real time, that are the real deal. This sucks...part of an autoshow experience is dreaming about what might be....
timmm55
On the other hand, showing what could have been, when what IS isn't all that great......it's a let down.

JagXFRGuy
One of the fun things about an auto show are the concepts...what the hell are the advanced studio's working on FOR A YEAR that can't become a concept?

TomServo92
I'd rather see real cars instead of flights of fancy that never see production.

BORG
Ford has allot of new product, but so does everybody else. That's unfortunate, I've never known a Ford show without SEVERAL great concepts (with the 24/7 concepts excluded). LincolnV
If I remember correctly, one of Mullaly's initial comments when he came on board was that he wasn't interested in displaying cars that Ford had no intention of producing.

I LIKE that mentality, I still shed a tear regarding the Bronco Concept....
JagXFRGuy
I'm going to start a board that somehow doesn't allow idiots to make posts.. YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT. Having an autoshow without concepts is like driving a Mustang without a horse on it....It's part of the entertainment experience..it talks to the future..it speaks to the ideas that could some day become reality... My god...the entire Ford display without concepts.....I love Ford and I've made 100K on the stock in the last few days by selling like a freak when I bought it $1.95 because I believed in what they represented and what they will become but no goddamn concept cars? I'm going to GM...wait...they make nothing I'd every want to own...guess I'll stick with Jag's and RR's...LOL

Deanh
good catch.....never thought of that...guess I'm the idiot...LOL I hear your point, I always loved seeing concept cars, but eventually got pi$$ed getting excited over something that would never see fruition, I think you will be pleasently surprized with Fords display, and what IS refreshing is that the huge amount of cash that USED to be spent on batmobiles, is being utilized in more helpful areas....good call on the stock! Instead of crying about what Ford is not showing, how about giving Ford credit for all the spectacular engines, vehicle and technology that's being released now. I really wish more people would understand that point. While it is great to let designers loose, there is a sense that Ford has disappointed people in the past few seasons by leading them on to believe certain cars might be built. ford4v429
saddest thing about concept cars- the ones that do 'wow' the masses and get a commitment to manufacture are almost a universal letdow...'almost' solely because of the challenger- it actuallywound up as stated from first glimpse, and didnt take years to see the dealerships(unlike a certain bowtie ponycar). look at the dodge charger r/t concept, even the Volt...they got a lot of atttentiion, then overnight turned into a generic styled car with the same name... maybe nascar did have a good idea with the COT...they could all just make the same thing with different lights stuck on it...nah, I don think so. One year with real iron will be refreshing.

2b2
here's the solution for anyone disappointed with the lack of concepts: (baseless 'rumor') the Focus to be shown at NAIAS is a pre-production concept (which as of 60(?) HOURS before the reveal is still UNseen) the actual production version won't be shown until LAIAS problem solved :D Edited January 9, 2010 by 2b2
