2014 Ford Focus Hatchback - my one month review

Recommended Posts

Oh, I forgot to add one other cool thing I like about the car that seems to be Ford-only: The cool little blind spot mirrors! At first it was very hard to get used to them and kinda screwed up me using the side mirrors at all. But once I got accustomed to them they are great! My wife's van has the blind spot warning lights, but what's better then just being able to see what's in your blind spot altogether? Cheap, but effective!

I love these mirrors on my Mustang! Exactly, what is better than actually seeing what is in your blind spot and you will not have to worry about expensive repair costs of a malfunctioning blind spot warning system. Sometimes simple and cheap is better. :camera:

Maybe I am old school but I've always set my mirrors up so they don't show the side of my vehicle-I know what it looks like and always push them out a bit-so for me at least the blind spot mirrors do not aid my driving. My next vehicle though will definitely need to have some blind spot warning since this alerts me to cars that I may not be able to keep track of-living in Atlanta the people here drive very aggressively on the highways!

Found one more minor annoyance in an otherwise very enjoyable car.

Couldn't they have put a little space between the compass heading and the mileage? Half the time I don't even remember I have a compass in the car because it blends right into the mileage (look at all the space next to it they could have positioned it)

Oh yeah, 0 miles to empty. I was living life on the wild side that day (actually the miles to empty number dropped from 70's to 40's to 20's in the span of about 10 miles and I got taken by surprise, but luckily made it to a gas station).

...and just because I thought it was funny, my crooked Microsoft SYNC badge.

The compass reading next to the odometer is odd, seems to me that the upper right opposite of the temp would be a perfet place to put that information.

I have lived dangerously one time years ago in my 1988 Escort. Of course no miles to empty, just the needle sitting solildy on "E"! :drop:

The upper right corner is where it shows the cruise control symbol and current set speed. Edited by blazerdude20

I'm a tried and true blue oval fan but I would never recommend these cars to anyone. I don't care when it was built. If it has this awful DCT in it, its going to break. Its the worse design ever and should be engineered out of the car immediately. I guarantee there's a power struggle going on between the bean counters and the engineers within Ford right now over this humongous flop of a trans. I dumped my car this past weekend and took it hard on the chin. Good luck to anyone who buys one.

Your honeymoon is still going. Put 25 or 30k on that car and lets revisit this review.

53k miles and 3.5 years later. Still no trans issues (or any issues!)

Still drives and looks like the day I drove it off the lot. Very happy with this car.
