Bob1010
We went to buy a explorer 2015. They showed us the A plan price. But since 2015 is at the end and 2016 explorers are here, does the A plan even apply? We argued with the sales manager. He said they cant change the price, but most dealers have 5-10k off the 2015s. Why would we pay 2015 A plan pricing? The A-plan pricing on the 2016 is $200 different then the 2015 A-plan pricing. So why wouldnt we wait and get the new 2016? Any thoughts? blazerdude20
The dealer is NOT allowed to change the price (even to a lower price) on an A, Z, X, or D plan vehicle. The prices are set by Ford. There's no reason you can just forgo A plan and buy the 2015 as a regular customer. Or wait for the 2016 and buy with A plan.
akirby
You do realize that you still get the rebates on top of the a plan price on the invoice, right? It would be almost impossible for the dealer to sell less than A plan including incentives. Right now I show $1500 rebate for the 2015 but only $500 for the 2016. So you'd be paying Aplan minus $1500 for the 2015 or Aplan minus $500 for the 2016. I'd wait for the 2016 unless they increase the rebates for the 2015s a lot.
theoldwizard
I you have A plan, then you should have access to the web site to look up the price yourself.
ice-capades
On "Plan" purchases (A/X/D) any dealer will gladly show you the Ford invoice which shows all the plan prices.
hermans
I've bought many-many cars on A or Z. The dealers have never failed to trot out the invoice. Edited June 1, 2015 by hermans
akirby
Dealers can also give you the rebates that would be included with both the 2015 and 2016 so it's easy to compare. But the OP seemed to think retail customers were getting better than A plan prices on the 2015s but he wasn't taking rebates into account. fuzzymoomoo
It also sounds like he was at a dealer who doesn't get many A plan purchases
bzcat
https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerweb/login.do or https://www.myplan.ford.com/myplanweb/login.do You can pull the A plan invoice yourself I don't think the dealer was trying to scam the OP. I think OP doesn't actually understand how A-plan works: A-plan price (should be near invoice) - holdbacks - all applicable retail rebates and incentives = actual sales price Edited June 2, 2015 by bzcat
Bob1010
Its true, I guess I didnt understand how the A-Plan works. But it makes more sense to buy the 2016 than the 2015.
HRT
Is there a way for me to get a 2016 explorer using one of these plans
akirby
Is there a way for me to get a 2016 explorer using one of these plans A plan is only for Ford employees. You can get a X plan pin either from your employer if your company is a Ford partner company or from an employee under the friends and family program, but X plan is about $150 over dealer invoice so it's not he screaming deal like A or Z plan. Bob1010
Oh, I did not know it was: A-Plan - holdbacks - retail rebates and incentives = price. The hold backs is subtracted too? My wife's father works for Ford, so we did not know you could login to a web site. How do we get access? He is not tech savvy, who should I have him ask to get his account info? Thanks for your help! https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerweb/login.do or https://www.myplan.ford.com/myplanweb/login.do You can pull the A plan invoice yourself I don't think the dealer was trying to scam the OP. That's not really correct. The A plan price printed on the invoice is roughly 4% below invoice so the holdback has already been subtracted. The selling price is A plan (which is already about 4% below invoice) minus rebates and incentives. Sometimes plan participants (A/Z/D/X) also get additional rebates not available to the general public. This is usually the case with dealer cash. fluffyneenja
My personal x-plan experience. x-plan = 0.4% over invoice. Roughly, just over $200 over invoice. Ford currently has a $500 cash incentive. This brought the price about $350 below invoice. You cannot haggle because it's a set price by Ford. I tried to haggle hard once and that ended that conversation. A-plan is probably the best deal you can get from the numbers I've seen.
akirby
Actually X plan is dealer invoice minus 0.4% plus $275. So it works out to around $150 over invoice on average. It changed a few years ago.
fluffyneenja
That's why I ended up $350 under vs $300. I was wondering the discrepancy. Thanks.
Deanh
the only scam is the bogus "Advertiser prices" some dealer run that lure people in....only to be informed they don't qualify for the $1000 do you own a pair of tartan speedos rebate....if you get my drift....and some of those advertisers "net" prices can be construed as lower than A Plan.
NJExplorer2011
I have purchased several Fords under X plan. Easy way to purchase because there is no hidden costs. Dealer MUST show you the "real invoice" less the X plan price. He can ONLY charge a small dealer fee (~$100) not the usual $695 bullshit. Also no "marketing or advertising fees". You get all the current ford incentives/rebates and even exclusive X Plan bonus money. It is a very clean deal and no haggling. If you qualify for X Plan you normally are able to get two PINs a year which means two opportunities to buy a vehicle under X Plan.
