Anthony
Well, sorta.... https://www.trucks.com/2016/11/07/workhorse-group-electric-pickup-trucks/ Most American pickup trucks are rugged, multi-tasking, powerful. Cincinnati-based Workhorse Group Inc. wants to add electric to that list. The manufacturer, known for its battery-electric delivery vehicles and aerial drones, said Monday that it will begin developing full-size plug-in electric pickup trucks to deliver in 2018 for fleet use. The Workhorse W-15 light-duty work truck, targeted at less than $50,000 before incentives, would be the first of its kind built in the U.S., Workhorse said. North Carolina-based power company Duke Energy has already signed a non-binding letter of interest for at least 500 trucks by 2019. The City of Orlando also said it will purchase the vehicles. tbone
I was just going to post about this. First I've heard of it. I've never seen any previous articles about it.
tbone
The headlight arrangement made me think current F150 when I first saw it. It's an interesting truck.
PREMiERdrum
Cincinnati: Where Northern hospitality meets Southern efficiency. I don't have much hope. There is, however, a great Creole/Tex-Mex fusion place down along the river that is incredible... house big band on the weekends and a huge beer list.

Next time I go down there I intend on checking it out.
RichardJensen
Did these guys buy their business plan from Mahindra, or from that cop car company that I can't remember the name of?
BORG
Makes you wonder if Tesla is at all interested in making trucks.
fordmantpw
Will begin developing for delivery in 2018. They don't get it do they.
BORG
Electrification certainly opens the door for upstart competitors since the barrier to entry and the supply chain complexity drops significantly. But this isn't that I'm sure.

Next time I go down there I intend on checking it out. Allyn's... It's a little hole-in-the-wall that you'd probably drive by a thousand times without thinking twice. Seriously though, if you get the chance, get there. If you're lucky, time your visit to coincide with one of Listermann Brewing Co's 3 different annual Volksfest events. Nothing to do with German cars... it's a big community beer festival with something like 30 different local craft brews on tap (and refillable mugs!), live music, and food trucks. Did these guys buy their business plan from Mahindra, or from that cop car company that I can't remember the name of? Carbon Motors, man. Remember those here who were convinced Ford was hosed in that segment because they didn't have a purpose-built vehicle like the Carbon?
sullynd
Makes you wonder if Tesla is at all interested in making trucks. Why wonder? Master Plan Part Deux Expand to Cover the Major Forms of Terrestrial Transport Today, Tesla addresses two relatively small segments of premium sedans and SUVs. With the Model 3, a future compact SUV and a new kind of pickup truck, we plan to address most of the consumer market. A lower cost vehicle than the Model 3 is unlikely to be necessary, because of the third part of the plan described below.
sullynd
Every couple weeks I see an electric Silverado, I forget who makes them, VIA motors? Chicago has a fleet of electric FedEx Vans. They're converted Euro Vans (Modex or something like that?) but I think they look pretty cool. I could see there being a niche for these. NLPRacing
Sounds like they are going to add a pick up body to an existing chassis. Workhorse Extended Range E-Gen If it works out well, I could see Ford doing something similar with a Transit Cab Chassis.
atomcat68
Did these guys buy their business plan from Mahindra, or from that cop car company that I can't remember the name of? You beat me to it! This reminds me of Carbon (the police car). I hope the best for them, but these things don't usually end well.
Kev-Mo
Home grown American Truck. American engineering, American parts, American workers, American jobs, American profits. I'm all for it! I wish them success! If these guys can't pull it off the Koreans or Japanese will come bring something here and do it.
