2025 Ford Expedition Interior Spotted

Recommended Posts

The rear lift in for cargo has been greatly reduced, thats a plus.  The tail light design looks interesting, but I hope the light signature with the light thats actually on the tailgate will be continuous and not tacked on.

Lookin at the photos, I noticed the truck will be a tad longer, looks like they pulled the rear end back. Also, the tailgate looks split, so instead of a lift glass either the tailgate will split up like the 3rd gen explorer, or split clam shell style like bmw. They kept that weird as split in the c pillar. Also, the mirror pedestal will be plastic again...eww.

hope so, the current LWB versions from both the Expy a Navi are shorter that the competition.

The Navi seems to get a different tailgate design with the current plate at the bottom:

not sure if it will get the split-tailgate design:

So the tailgate is split.

Now we have to find out out if the bottom splits down (all Range Rover) or up like a nicer split glass format like the 2006 Explorer/Mountaineer/Aviator.

Not sure if that taillight into the tailgate it real. That close up photo looks like a fake sticker.

I am still not seeing the split design.  I see the cut line below the liftgate lights, but that is a miraculous panel gap for something that everyone is suspecting opens and closes - I don't see it being possible.  I think it's just a separate upper plastic piece like Tahoe (and Yukon and Escalade) have had for 2 generations now....

I still don't like the look of the taillights, and think the liftgate lights are going to look horribly tacked on, as they don't appear to have any visual connection aside from just being there.

The 2003-2014 Volvo XC90 (Gen 1) split tailgate design should provide some clarity on what to expect…

So I expressed disappointment that the Expedition was getting the Navigator's coast to coast screen and Borg on GMI said everyone is getting it too so Ford can't hold Ford back for Lincoln's sake and needs it too or something along those lines.

Well the new Chevy/GMC Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon have been leaked and teased and don't have coast to coast screens.  The Infiniti QX 80 doesn't have coast to coast screens either.

I wish that feature stayed exclusive to Lincoln.

I agree with you. It is really disappointing that the Expy is getting the Lincoln coast to coast screen. As you have said, nobody aside the Escalade is getting it so, I really don't understand the reasons here and it should have stayed a Lincoln exclusive feature.

The coast to coast screen is pretty new and from what I have read it was well received so it makes less to share it with the non-luxury models.

This is a reach for an explanation, but perhaps the anticipated sales figures for the Navi do not allow Ford to hit a volume figure for the screen that is satisfactory for the supplier - maybe Ford need the added volume of the Expy to hit the supplier's required volume?

I don't mind it.  People criticized the decision for a large tablet like screen, so ford decided to give the expy a better alternative that makes it easier to navigate while driving.  Someone's gonna complain about something, but if lincoln ups the ante on materials and aesthetic, I dnt see anything wrong.

It reminds me of that poll I did way back on FIN when that site was a thing asking if Lincoln should get Ford's latest and greatest tech first and most people voted No it should debut on Ford first and trickle up to Lincoln.  To me it makes no sense with every other car company that has a luxury brand debuts new tech on their luxury brand first before the mainstream models get it.  Example: Lexus first then Toyota, Cadillac first then Chevy, etc.  For some reason I really think Ford has this NEED to have the Ford name get stuff first because it's the family name and Lincoln comes secondary to them.

Well Nautilus got coast to coast screen and there's no Ford counterpart yet.

It's not complaining for the sake of complaining it's about setting a president and giving Lincoln a bone which they desperately need.  Materials and aesthetic isn't enough to justify the huge jump in price from an Expedition to a Navigator.  You need to give them a reason to consider one.

but again, how do other automakers can but Ford doesn't? Also if Ford doesn't maintain the investment and further differentiation for the Navi, how will they accomplish more sales and greater volume?

Also as Andrew says, the Nautilus got the coast to coast screen and there's no Ford counterpart yet.

Materials and aesthetic is not enough, maybe it was 20-30 years ago but not anymore. If that was enough, don't you think that other automakers would do the same?

Considering what you are saying, the Yukon and Escalade should have the same interior as the Tahoe, but that is not the case

Agree, it makes no sense, everybody else that has a luxury brand debuts new tech on the luxury brand but as you say, it seems Ford needs to have the name get stuff.

The expedition and navigator hasn't shared an interior since 2003, gm followed suit a generation later.  Gm and just about every other automaker usually follows fords lead In Regards to trends.  That said, the denali didn't get a diff Interior from its counterparts until 2021.  The escalade may look different, but it uses way more "shared parts" than the nav does to the expy, yet people feel the interior is better.  People won't care if they share the same set up so much as they feel special.  I'll wait until they are released to complain, but if ford is charging  $90k to get in a platinum, I would prefer if it gave me nav vibes.

Nautilus is built (and sold) in China, perhaps different (local) suppliers with different metrics? Do you know Nautilus sales figures in China (I don't)?

Yeah, that has been the case since 2003, but then again, why change it now?

i think that people do care, IMO there are different segments but as you say, let’s wait for the releases.

It will be interesting to see if the lower half folds down or if it folds up like a traditional liftgate (similar to the '03-'05 Explorer).  Especially on a vehicle this large with a massive third row cargo area, the flip down approach will make it harder to reach further into the vehicle.

A screen does not make an interior.  You're acting like you know every single item will be identical and swap out badges.

This is the Expy's interior.  We unfortunately haven't seen Navigator's yet, but we do know that Lincoln uses a more horizontal theme, and has elements like the piano shifter buttons, which means the entire dash beneath the screen can and likely will be completely unique.  I'd imagine Navigator's interior will take cues from the Nautilus look with the full width horizontal vent, and a lot of the detailing seems to match the look of the Star concept, which will give a completely unique look vs. Expy.  Let's not panic before seeing it.

I agree that a screen doesn’t make the interior, but considering that in this case the screen is that big, it kinda does.

Also, I am not acting like that, I’m just saying that it doesn’t make any sense IMO to share the same screen layout.

sadly we haven’t seen the Navi interior but it is very likely like the one on the Nautilus.

aside from the vents, it seems very similar to the one on the spy pics, also take into account that now the rotatory shifter seems to be near the screen, in a position similar to the push bottom transmission from the Nautilus is.

but as you say, let’s wait

I previously provided examples of the different presentations of the coast to coast screens in the Chinese Explorer and Aviator where they had notable differentiation.   How do we know the CtoC screen won’t only be available in the highest trim levels of the Expedition?  I have no issue with that since the price of a Platinum is in Navigator territory.  Although I would prefer the Navigator have a completely unique interior, at the same time I would also like the Expedition to have a superb interior as well.

Yes.  Since a rotary dial can't be relocated in a different product.

There's no need to panic. lol

Now, if Navigator debuts and it's this same Expy interior with a Lincoln badge and different leather, I'll be right there with you in saying that's a disappointment.  But let's see how well they're differentiated before eviscerating the thing...

Right, the interior design is the least thing that needs to be fixed.  The driving characteristics and quality need to be fixed first and foremost.  The drive is outdated by today's standards and the quality is putting a bad taste in consumers mouths.
