DeluxeStang
Not feeling it guys. It looks like a rejected Chrysler Crossfire revival. The proportions aren't bad. But the design to make it super blocky was God awful.

Sherminator98
Looks like a bar of soap. Overall its not bad, but it just looks excessively thick at the belt line, maybe because of the battery pack?
Dequindre
Eh, it's not too bad. Hopefully they ditch the abstract marketing though.
T-dubz
This interior screams ultraluxury to me 😆. unfortunately I don’t think this is going to save jaguar.

rmc523
Is this real? Maybe it'll look better in real life/not in a rendering, but eh. This makes me think of an 80s "future" car.

This makes me think of an 80s "future" car. Regardless of the cars design, the quality of the render is subpar and amateur at best. I’ve seen better quality renders by motor1. This is not something I would expect from an ultra luxury brand. 80’s future car is a good description. I think it kinda looks like a car you’d find in GTA2 or 3. I really hope this trend of minimalist blocky designs doesn't infect anymore cars than it already has.
atomcat68
Well, I guess the one I posted last week was the wrong one... But I wish it was it now after seeing this. This is the most awful thing with wheels that I have ever seen! It is a freight train air conditioner inspired lump that makes the Pontiac Aztec look like a Ferrari in comparison. This looks like something that the Caesar Romero Joker from the 1960's Batman series would drive and fart a pink cloud smoke screen to get away from a crime scene. Jaguar will tank. This is the end of the brand. Ta-ta!
Sherminator98
In the grand scheme of things, what has happened to car design in the past 5-10 years? I haven't seen anything really from any major makers that are exactly inspiring...pretty much everything is just blah or terrible. Its like automakers have lost their way. It's the state of modern design education. I went out to visit Art Center in Pasadena back in the day, arguably the most well known car design school. I met some cool designers, like the guy who designed the mach-e Jason Castrotta I believe his name was. But the atmosphere of the school is extremely pretentious, imagine that movie Whiplash but worse. Most of the students are rich, snobby kids who are disconnected from reality and the desires of casual consumers. The very nature of their upbringing has made it difficult for them to understand what most consumers want, or how to relate to them. These design programs also stress being weird, and unconventional to build up creative thinking abilities. But the issue is this means our cars are being created by rich disconnected people who were taught to be quirky above all else. That sort of mindset and upbringing is how you get cars like this. DeluxeStang
I really quite like the side view proportions. If they had given it a more conventional front and rear fascia and softened up the surfacing, they could of had something here.

Chrisgb
Reminds me of the models you'd see in fisher Body Craftsman Guild photos. https://www.si.edu/object/fisher-body-craftsmans-guild-model-car-1966:nmah_692200
rmc523
The profile isn't bad, and I could even get used to the rear, but the front is awful. I also don't like how it's a relatively "flowing"/smooth design, in profile/surfacing elements that then go meet literal boxes on the front and rear.....those elements should've been given some shape, IMO. I also don't understand why they couldn't take photos of the actual model and instead provided mostly (bad looking) renderings. The company really couldn't pay to do a photoshoot? rmc523
There is no elegance to the front (a Jaguar staple) at all...but even if they're pushing against the traditional Jag/elegant look, it's not bold either - it's a box "grille" + some horizontal headlights - not original at all. T-dubz
The best part of this is the brass trim on the exterior. I think that’s kinda cool. I like the long hood, the exaggerated wheel haunches and even the headlights. But the new logos are terrible. Something doesn’t seem right about the rear c pillar. The rear and front grille are terrible. The angular design is also going to severely date this thing (think Cadillac XLR). There’s so many iconic fastbacks with long hoods out there that it was always going to be an uphill battle for this thing to compete. mackinaw
Just read that Jag is expecting only 10-15% of current Jag owners will be interested in the Type 00. This vehicle is being targeted to a new audience, young rich people in their 20's, not old guys like me. It looks like most folks here don't like the Type 00, but I can guarantee you the "Head of Design" at every OEM has taken notice. In a way, it's sort of like the Cybertruck. I personally hate it, but it does have a presence. And I just spent the Thanksgiving weekend with several teenagers who think the Cybertruck is cool. This younger generation sees things differently than 40+ year olds.

I also think Jaguar is using the old "bad publicity is better than no publicity" marketing ploy too...they are getting everyone to talk about them, good, bad or indifferent. I don't think the final product will be as polarizing, but it still looks like a bar of soap to me.
