Acadia just got redesigned, and is back on the same platform of Traverse and Enclave.
grbeck
If I recall correctly, this one was cobbled together quickly after Cadillac saw the Lincoln Aviator.
ANTAUS
I applaud Ford going back to names for vehicles, this whole CT4, XT6, blah blah required me to go searching to see WTF it was and essentially unmemorable.

Cadillac is going back to names too on all their EVs but all their names are going to end with IQ now except the Escalade tho the EV version is Escalade IQ. I wish Cadillac would use historic names again but apparently the GM fans think that's a dumb idea

Yeah when Maverick came out, I had my accountant who is 15 years older show me what it really was... and I'm like "Really? that means what to me??" On the other hand I have a friends son, who named his new baby Maverick and I'm like "You named your kid after a Ford Truck?" and he's like..."No it's after the Comicbook Character" (didn't know there was one), and I'm like "Listen to yourself... a comic book character or a truck"... So I nicknamed the kid, "L'il Ford"

ANTAUS
Good I can add that too, and someone said Maverick was some plane or some character on some movie as well. 🤣

Eldorado would be a great name for that convertible concept Solei if it made it to production. The concept even had gold paint to boot. Aston Martin, Bentley and Rolls Royce also use old names. Corvette, although not produced by a luxury marque could be considered as a luxury product, and it has one of the oldest names out there.

I think the difference is those names still sound current, IMO. Vanquish, Vantage, Phantom. Eldorado and Fleetwood just sound old.

Motorpsychology
I think that the problem is Cadillac's old monikers still have the "standard of the world" baggage. Fleetwood, Deville were always bigger, heavier cars that were ment for living room comfort touring, not ripping the Nürburgring. Calais and Seville might be the only carryover names that would resonate. Conversely, many of their recent concept car names have a vibrant, elegant intonation: Solei, Elmiraj, Escala. Why did they go with alpha babble names? Edited April 17 by Motorpsychology
akirby
My buddy just bought a CT6 V series Blackwing. Fantastic car, horrible name.
