That wet slushy snow can be really frustrating plus the aholes who never take the 2 seconds to brush it off their roof then drive on the highway... But yeah ice really is a pain. I will never forget when I was in college in RI and taking night classes. We had a rain storm that turned into ice the parking lot was almost like an ice skating rink and my Mercury Sable was in the far corner of the lot. I had to walk out there without killing myself in the dark only to find a layer of ice on the car and not able to open my doors. I had to use my car keys to crack the ice along the door opening to get it open then the thing didn't want to start cause it was so cold. I kept trying and finally got it then set the defrost front and back to full blast. Had to do the key trick again to get the trunk open to get my ice scraper. Fun times! 😑
Consider yourself lucky. I've plowed twice today and it's still coming down and will be until about 6 AM tomorrow. Current temp is 18°F.
We've already passed the 1 foot mark with 12 hours to go.
Punxsutawney Phil better not see his shadow on 2/2 if he knows what's good for him. I'm only about 15 miles from his den. LOL
It’s the very reason that for so long, Ford couldn’t be convinced to build the Lincoln Aviator,
management felt that a high series trim Explorer was all that was required when Lincoln
dealers had been begging for years for products they could immediately sell.
It’s a big problem for Ford and Lincoln, a cohesive plan that works for both brands
but all I see is Ford avoiding the bitter reality by simply edging towards survival…..
What blows a big hole in Ford’s product strategy, using limited plants to force either/or choices?
Answer, the now huge $19 billion black hole charge because it got Electrification plan so wrong.
All of those losses and then some came from funding taken for Ford Blue ICE projects.
4 corner air suspension on the Aviator I don't think any Ford product has that. Also the coast to coast screen, all I can really think of at the moment off the top of my head I am sure Navigator offers some stuff Fords don't.
I brought this up years ago on fordinsidenews when that forum was active and got into a few heated discussions about it with Wingsnut and a few others they used to argue all the time that Ford shouldn't knee cap their own brand to satisfy Lincoln which was an absurd argument. So I made a poll how should new features make their debut? On Lincoln then trickle down? At the same time on both brands? On Ford then trickle up to Lincoln.... guess what On Ford then trickle up to Lincoln won...
Wingsnut was a Ford employee too
Billy Boy's dad tried the "bespoke luxury" thing with Continental Mark II:
And his grandpa was into bespoke too; he's the inspiration for the original Lincoln Continental:
Does Ford have a single feature that is NOT available on a Ford branded product?
Should they?
The problem with “mass market luxury” is in a world of 80k F150 and Expeditions it’s hard to not treat them as luxury. On the flip side it’s hard to justify “bespoke luxury”. If you ignore the EV Gamble I admire what GM is doing with Cadillac. The Escalade IQ is a tour de force. The Ceslestiq is crazy, but they had to have assumed they’d sell tens of them. Lincoln, as it exists, has a Mercury problem.
Here’s the thing that gets me regarding the Ford family’s support for Lincoln,
If they really want the brand to thrive and grow, they need to instruct Ford
to do more than just lip service and feel good press releases.
