I'm sure i'll be in the minority but i think there would actually be a market for this in the US. A small city van for deliveries or light contracting work with solid range (300+ miles). This is basically an EV version of the last SWB Transit Connect. Bring it here and i'd order multiple for work day one. -
Old thread but because the flapping was driving me crazy too, it is actually part of the climate control vents. If you reach under and upwards to each side of your rear bumper, you will find 4 rubber (?) flaps (picture attached, ignore my hand). 3 of them lack any sort of actuator (the ones on the right) and one more oval shaped on has an actuator (on the left). The flapping noise primarily comes from the one on the left with the actuator when your climate control is OFF or on RECIRCULATE. When I was testing out the function with the help of my sister, your climate control being on either of those will cause air to not flow through the flaps (I do not know how, I couldn’t feel the actuator do anything the control seems to be further inside). When your climate control is on but recirculate is not enabled, air will flow freely through the flaps. This keeps them open and prevents the flapping, which I assume is accordingly turbulent flow pushing them open when they are set to be closed. This could be a faulty actuator on the larger flap. I duct taped the passenger side flap on the left down and left all other flaps alone. This solved 90% of the noise. The remaining noise is either the 3 flaps on my passenger side, or the larger flap on my driver side which seemed to be in better shape. Either way this mostly got rid of the noise without me having to worry about messing up my climate control system.

That's all we ever saw as far as I know, aside from talk that they were weird looking.

Maybe "Xterra Darkness" is going to be a trim level....or special addition. -

I would hope that any updated version of this vehicle gets a CE1 underpinning....I kinda like the style of it. Making a "cargo van" for urban deliveries in EU countries actually expands its appeal. -

The CEO and management team need their golden parachutes for when this thing flops and gets sold to another EV company.... -

I believe it's highway speeds. -
Did we ever get any insight to what it looked like besides the totally concealed shape?
-
Compared to what and at what speed? Ford isn’t saying yet. Are they inferring 50 miles better than a 200 mile range or a 250 mile range? I can see excellent aero improvements adding 50 miles at 70 mph but not during city driving.

I am a little concerned that applying radical aero could hurt design appeal. But the team is claiming this isn't the case. That balancing aesthetics and aero is very important for this project. So hopefully it's not a repeat of the three row shitshow. The response from people who've seen the truck seems to be overwhelmingly positive, so that's a good sign.
