Soon after Ford announced that they were ending production of the Focus, Toyota announced a $170M expansion at TMMMS to increase Corolla production. Car buyers are more attuned to the market nowadays. Upon finding out that they are considering a car that is being discontinued, at least some will look elsewhere based on that alone. The lapse in NA Ranger and GM's midsize twins production is at least partially responsible for Tacoma's absolute dominance in market share still. Taking a time out is risky. If you are absent for a year or less with a "late introduction," you can probably sustain market share. Stay on the sidelines too long and buyers that need a new vehicle now will go elsewhere. A lot of the Edge intenders stayed within the fold and bought other Fords, a lot left to buy competitors' two rows. Those people may stay there and not come back.
Apparently people don't like my doomsday comments regarding Ford's/Farley's full speed ahead EV endeavors. Yet there's a thread in here saying Farley should be removed as CEO and another one about Ford's recall disaster. Like I said elsewhere, I want Ford to succeed. But every time I read press releases about Farley's EV obsession, the article generates negative vibes. Here's just one of many in the link below. Other than Ford and GM, I don't see other mfrs. racing to EV's. Stellantis, Toyota, Nissan and several others are being very cautious. They're tiptoeing. Hyundai just stopped production of the Genesis EV. Lion EV school bus mfr. just retracted warranties on their electric buses and school systems are scrambling to get parts and repairs. And if governments are going to mandate EV's, then we're on our way to socialism. Judging by the waste that our current system supports, maybe that's the wave of the future. How many cars, boats, buses, construction vehicles. jetliners are sitting in mfr. lots, airports, fields etc. The number would astound you! Our mineral resources are being gobbled up unnecessarily. Home Depot and grocery stores should only be half their size. Just look at the potato chip aisle at a major grocery store. Do they make a pineapple flavored potato chip yet?! Are you kidding me? I don't care if the stuff is on consignment or not. It's ridiculous! Let's see how many points I lose with this post!

I give up. You win. Screens are horrible. If all automakers took them out completely, sales would skyrocket and their stock would be through the roof and they would have nothing to worry about.
