Not a shocker if it is delayed. I really like the Scout, but I've felt all along that it's not going to make the sell by date and will be later to the party than expected. Too much at once. -
The vehicles Ford gave up were not cost competitive so they weren't making much, if any profit. Making those profitable was never a priority. Customers and sales and market share are meaningless without profit. So killing them actually helped from a business perspective. CE1 is bringing cost improvements to clean sheet designs that will allow them to make smaller cheaper vehicles and still turn a profit and the 5-7 new vehicles in development will add significant market share. But you won't see cheap boring cars or tiny utilities and none will sell 500k units. That's not Ford's business model.

Volkswagen is spending billions on Scout’s rebirth, but things might not be going according to plan. Quite the opposite as a new report out of Germany claims the company is postponing the launch by a year. A report from Spiegel attributes the delay on “technical problems,” although specifics are hazy and said to include a financial component. However, in a statement to The Drive, a spokesperson said “Scout Motors has not shared any timing or product update announcements.” Scout Motors Fires Back At Report Claiming Production Delay Separately, Jamie Vondruska, responsible for building the Scout Motors community, posted a formal response on the company’s dedicated forums. While production challenges haven’t been ruled out, the VW Group’s newest brand says it is making “good progress” on vehicle development, construction of the South Carolina factory, and the creation of its supplier network.

It's also possible that the 5 number is a coincidence/overlap - that there are 5 near term and 5 CE1 products but not necessarily both totals. I don't like when they reuse the name on unrelated vehicles too.......at least models like Bronco Sport or Range Rover Sport are different other than powertrain being the delineating factor. I still say that just because the blue one has a cybertruck shape doesn't mean that the same visual design elements can't be applied to a more traditional truck silhouette like we saw in the airflow graphics.

So you want other people to post the link of the article you read?

For some reason, the auto-dimming rearview mirror is only specifically listed in the Outer Bank's Mid package. I think it's an oversight and assume it'd be included in all Mid packages, but not even Raptor lists it. Strange...

But you're missing the point. Yes, it's not the segment, it's the vehicle. But to build a better vehicle, it takes money. When you sink the money into that vehicle, you make less profit on that vehicle, which means your ROI goes down. The primary goal of a business is to increase your ROI. Period. Sometimes that's selling a million of something. Sometimes it's knowing when to cut your losses and bail. This is what happened with the Fusion and Focus. Ford wasn't making enough money on them to denote the necessary funds to keep selling them. If the segment is saturated and you can't make money there, then yes, you bail and move on to something else. My core business is building software. If I saw that I couldn't turn a profit building software anymore, but could by expanding web hosting (which I do some of now), guess what I would do. I would pivot to a hosting company and build less software. Now, in hindsight, it's easy to see that they would have had a much better ROI in building a next gen Edge and Escape/Corsair instead of BEVs. Had they known then what they know now, that choice would have been easy. Also, you're failing to acknowledge the new products that Ford has coming. Tons of EVs and several other new vehicles. They will not just be big trucks, so they won't be NA only. I think the key now is to secure the home market and make it much better, fill the gaps, get back to growth, then they can go back to expanding abroad. -

That's awesome that you've got 30 copywritten. What genre? Our former leader Richard Jensen is a published author, so it' cool we've got a mix on here. I can't write songs or books, I just write code. 😄 -
Yeah but I just read somewhere that drivers are complaining about a few issues. If anybody has some free time, post a link.
