And this is part of the issue, Ford making this plan B side bet as a way of cutting every cost be that battery size, construction process and wiring electrical components. Whatever the most aero efficient design looked like is what they are building with hope that customers choose optimised efficiency over pure styling…. The upside to me is that it’s worlds apart from that two door $25k POS, that thing sounds great until you realise it’s all about $$ for customising.

The whole point of selling an EREV is to meet compliance in places like California and the 18 aligned states. with a home charge setup, it’s easy to recharge an EREV overnight which is valuable in commutes situations Not the best reason for owning one but it a window into the future, places like Australia are quickly switching to electrified vehicles and those hour or two hour commutes become less expensive for electrified vehicles.

Thx Joe. No clue what the Suburban sales figures were but wonder what Ford's wisdom was not to offer such a vehicle -

The seat might be right on the raised floor, so your legs are relatively straight out -

I think I would probably prefer a more traditional looking truck even if it costs a bit of range. I wonder if Ford did any focus groups to test this? -traditional design, 30k, 275 mile range or -aero design, 30k, 300 mile range

I was thinking about the seating position too. It’s possible that even though the vehicle is low, maybe the actual seating position is a bit higher since it’s sitting on top of the batteries?

The focus crossover thing is bleh, but the fiesta adopting a more chiseled and rally inspired look that calls back to the 80s fiestas looks pretty cool. I really love those wheels repurposed from the mustang fx as well. That blue thing needs to go, but the green design is definitely heading in the right direction. -

The issue is these sorts of designs are hideous. That doesn't matter when you're positioning a truck purely as a commerical tool for practicality. But lifestyle truck buyers aren't gonna go for them. That being said, maybe one day Ford could do something cool with this. Like if they're able to take the learnings of CE1 and apply it to larger EVs in 5, 10, 15 years time after battery tech has improved and is a better fit for larger truck duty Doing a bare bones ranger sized truck with a cab forward design so it had like a super duty sized bed, BoF and decent capabilities would be an awesome product for some commercial fleets.
