This is certainly an interesting change. Assuming output numbers change relative to the 2.7l, it is could be a cool update. I would imagine at least 350hp (for a 25hp upgrade) for the base truck. One thing about this motor is that, in other applications, it can make 400+ hp and torque, so would this eventually make the 5.0 irrelevant as well. Yet, we know 5.0 production is continuing for the rest of the decade based on all the agreements the past few weeks.   Does anyone remember the Bronco research survey from a few months ago? Iirc, it did not mention a 2.7, but mentioned an optional 3.0l (on trims below Raptor )and hybrid 5.0. My guess is that, for the time being, Ford will introduce the 3.0 in a detuned (from its upper ratings) version in the F-150 for the remainder of this generation. From there, it would likely make roughly 400 hp in the next gen truck while the 5.0 gets an update and/or a hybrid option, with something occurring with the 3.5l.   Then, late 2020s/early 2030s, Bronco and Ranger get the 3.0l as the optional motor on non-Raptor versions and hybrid Coyote on Raptor versions, reflecting the considerations of the survey.   My other thought would be how a 3.0l will affect the 3.5l being so close in power, etc.

Not really.  They could offer the 3.0 on a high end non raptor or offer a high output 2.3L.  Or offer a detuned version of the 3.0.

While the 2.7-3.0 swap is a big-ish deal... what jumped off the pages to me in Ford's product info guide and order guide was the deletion of Auto Start-Stop. Huzzah!   Have to seriously read between the lines in the order guide to see that, but it specifically mentioned it in the product info guide. Same guide, though, says the 3.0 will make 325hp and 400 lb/ft, which are the same numbers as the outgoing 2.7 engine. I suspect that's a placeholder, but that's just a guess.

It was only used in F150, Ranger and Bronco after they ditched the transverse version, and 2.3/3.0 makes more sense e ranger and bronco.

We already know a Bronco pickup is coming and it will likely have Ranger Super Duty underpinnings (T6.3) as will the forthcoming F-100.

Aviator was the flagship.  They went all in on it at first but pulled back a little lately.

Are both the 2.7 and 3.0 CGI blocks?
