I like the headlights, but the grill needs more work on it, it looks overly thick around the opening. 

Yeah, I don't mind that front end, but they were lazy with the back end, aka just looks the same as the existing models.

I’d think Ford would push the needle a bit more with the next gen 

Maverick would have been a wow moment regardless of when it was introduced,  imagine if similar delivered back in say, 2012. It would have shocked rivals even more.
