Man when it comes to electrified vehicles, Stellantis is the provable "will fuck up boiling water or making jello" I can't think of an vehicle they've done over the past 6 years or so that has any electrification that DOESN'T have major issues-maybe the new Cherokee, but that is new so I'm sure something will happen 😛 -
As mentioned, I think Ford's definition of "affordable" is somewhere in the $35-40k range.......and by that, meaning the product MSRP will start at $34,999.99 - $39,999.99 lol This is what I've been saying - there's only so many ways you can slice the truck market pie before you cannibalize your own sales. If the current rumor mill is right, they'll have.... Maverick Fathom "F-100"/Ranger Bronco Truck F-150 Super Duty Heavy trucks (they sort of count too but not really for this discussion)

The Feds Are Targeting Headlight Glare With Push for New Rules - Autoblog NHTSA Formally Announces Plans To Tackle Headlight Regulations The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) just announced a new initiative to modernize its outdated vehicle lighting standards. According to the agency, this is a long-overdue update to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, which covers lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. Using an amended rulemaking process, it plans to address a handful of concerns pertaining to modern vehicle headlights - excessive glare, improving rules for modern lighting technology, improving headlight performance, updating testing procedures and materials, and aligning U.S. standards with other parts of the globe. To speed up this process, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy will appoint up to 18 stakeholders across vehicle lighting manufacturers, motor vehicle equipment associations, safety organizations, research institutions, and engineering associations. It's taking public comments on the scope, committee membership balance, as well as formal nominations for membership pertaining to this matter now through early November. ---- It's about time.....hopefully it doesn't take 87 years to do....

Ford Ranger Crosspower Name Could Signal a New Powertrain - Autoblog A new trademark filing application from Ford for the ‘Ranger Crosspower’ name has raised questions about the automaker’s plans for the midsize pickup truck. The trademark filing, filed in New Zealand and discovered by Carmoses, hints at a possible new variant or powertrain for the popular pickup. The filing applies to gas and electric vehicles, while also naming pickup trucks, SUVs, vans, and their structural parts. Ford has also filed an application for the ‘Crosspower’ trademark on its own, separate from the Ranger, in Australia and New Zealand. Here’s a look at the possibilities for this name.

Ford Wins Appeal, Wiping Out $5.8 Million Dealership Judgment - Autoblog The latest development is that Ford won the appeal, wiping out the roughly $5.8 million a lower court awarded in 2024 to Charles Winegardner, who intended to buy Hunt Ford in La Plata. According to Automotive News, the dispute centered on the Blue Oval exercising its right of first refusal, which Winegardner challenged under a Maryland law enacted in 2009 that restricts its use. For context, Winegardner agreed to buy Hunt Ford in 2019 after its owners planned to retire. But after evaluating the dealership’s sales performance, facilities, and demand in the La Plata market, Ford exercised its right of first refusal, as the company planned to turn the location into a service-only center instead. The move was also part of the brand’s national dealership consolidation strategy, which essentially means reducing the number of dealers in certain markets and concentrating sales among fewer locations. Winegardner sued Ford in 2020 for blocking the transaction. He also met Ford’s minimum qualifications and was a dealer in good standing. At the time, Winegardner owned four dealerships in southern Maryland and had “a successful history of turning around underperforming dealerships,” according to a brief he filed with the Appellate Court of Maryland. Ford argued that while Maryland’s 2009 restriction limits a manufacturer’s ability to exercise a right of first refusal in certain dealership sales, its agreement with Hunt Ford dated back to 2001. The key question was whether the restriction could apply retroactively to that contract. Winegardner initially prevailed in a lower court, but Ford won on appeal in September 2026. Winegardner now plans to seek further review. Ford Prevails On Appeal In Right Of First Refusal Case

Jeep Recon EV Hits Just 160 Miles in Highway Range Test - Autoblog Car and Driver recently tested the 2026 Jeep Recon and concluded that the electric off-roader’s poor result “puts it among the least efficient EVs we’ve ever tested.” The outlet tested the Recon Moab launch edition model, which boasts a 94-kWh battery pack that’s EPA-rated at 222 miles combined, 250 miles city and 196 highway. But in Car and Driver’s real-life highway test undertaken at a steady 75 miles per hour, the Jeep Recon only managed to cover 160 miles on a full battery charge—18.4% below its EPA highway rating. Yikes....
