Caterpillar pickup is a Ford. https://share.google/3wahTuYeKNvOXazzv

I have the newest generation, and here's my 2 cents. This car is my favorite car I have ever owned. I do like the styling of my 2005 better (my 2nd favorite), but this is a much better car. I think the main reason the car may rub some Mustang faithful the wrong way, is that it is the least Mustang-like of all the generations, and that includes some pretty strange diversions like gen 2 and fox body. It is as if they bench marked BMW and ignored its pony car roots which all the other generations didn't do. My 2005 was the most "Mustang like" of my cars. We'll ignore my 2012, which I featured in two of my movies, but never cast a magic spell on me the way the 2005 did or this new one does. It handles great, but you are always aware it has a great deal of mass. While parking in parking spaces, it almost steers like you are driving a barge into a small space. My old gripe is that it did get expensive, but at least you can see where the money was spent. Probably the thing that sold me on the car, and it may seem silly to most, is the bank vault like noise when the door shuts... and of course the crazy speed I was not expecting from a base 4 cylinder engine with terrific handling that manages the car's weight impressively. The fuel economy is also impressive for such a high powered car. I think the next generation coupe would have to lose weight and go back to more of its pony car roots. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they pull another 2005 and put more heritage back into the design as they have 7 generations to draw from.

February is usually the lowest selling month to begin with, so the sub-50 does not concern me especially considering the fire. -
I know we never will, but it would be pretty cool to see all these stillborn projects over the years.

I HATE the event tickets thing. Just advertise the "all in" price from the get-go. Don't tell me the seat is $50, get me thinking ok that's not bad, I can do that, and then by the time you're checking out, the seat is actually $150 with the BS fees. I'd rather know that $150 price up front because I'll look in another section that I'm more willing to pay for.

Really, for the most part, the red cells are where we already anticipated them being (Escape, EVs, even F-series with the plant fire), though obviously there are exceptions. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how the numbers play out as the year goes on for F-series as they move past the plant fire issue.

There's a spot where it can potentially get legally troublesome with the Doc Fee. If it's policy that it's charged, and some people don't get it charged to them, could it be discriminatory that it wasn't charged to everyone? Us grown adults can say "no, that's dumb", but in today's society that's a very real risk. I'd much rather shave $300 off the car's price than remove the Doc Fee. It's that big a deal. I was thinking about added fees through the morning, too. We're seeing a lot of places adding 3% if you pay with a card rather than cash because of the card company fees, yet it's rarely posted as policy. I also remember seeing fuel surcharges showing up on UPS shipping invoices when fuel prices were high. Then there's buying event tickets online. Your price might be $X, but then there's six different extra fees, some hilariously labeled "convenience fee". Speaking of restaurants, some are automatically adding a tip to your bill... you can add more, but you're locked into the base tip. Just a few examples of businesses having added fees that could be part of the cost of doing business, but get passed on to the consumer.

CD6 came about because Ford wanted to leverage other longitude powertrain investment (mainly for F-150) for its large unibody vehicles. There was also CD6 Edge and CD6 Mustang planned, and possibly more (e.g. CD6 Taurus and Continental doesn't seem that far fetched if Flat Rock had been converted to build CD6). But at the end, there is no way Ford was going to retool Chicago, Oakville, and Flat Rock all to build CD6 so obviously those other projects didn't happen. But supposedly, CD6 Edge had completely design and engineering, just didn't proceed to prototyping.

Given ExploreDude's post, CD6 is going to see more utilization.

But in every other business that's just called overhead and there aren't separate fees. It's like going to a restaurant and being charged a separate dishwashing fee that wasn't part of the menu prices. By making it a separate fee they don't have to include that in the advertised base price of the vehicle and unsuspecting buyers don't understand it's negotiable.
