Agreed. I think what you'll see is a variety. Vaguely grille shapes sticking around with some EVs, and other EVs still retaining a contrasting design element. An example of that would be like the European EV explorer, how it doesn't have a grille shape, but it has that black contrasting line running across the top of the front end, which makes it look a lot better imo. 

To be fair, moreso with other silhouettes than a van, there are styling characteristics with EVs in general that they don't technically need, but should keep just because it looks good. Grilles, or some sort of other contrasting design element on the front end are one such example. EVs just don't look good when they're a wall of blank, empty, body colored metal in the front, and they never will.    This applies to something like the Mach-e and not something like a van, but I also hate the push for stubby cab forward design. A mach-e doesn't need a long hood at all, but it makes it look so much better, and really sells the look of being a mustang SUV. Stuff like that should stick around in the age of EVs, even if its purely for asthethic appeal. I'm not a fan of super minimalist design. 

1999 Ford E-150 Econoline "Chateau" V8 Triton 4.6L VIN: 1FMRE11W4XHA22592 Power steering HP Line. The issue I'm having is a major leak from the steering pump to power steering HP Line connection. The frustration I'm having is the installed line and the configuration does not match the power line available from any source (see here: https://www.rivercityfordparts.ca/oem-parts/ford-motorcraft-trade-power-steering-pressure-hose-psh26?srsltid=AfmBOoovUO00KimH0_5h13lAZghX0mPAD4JAVRaGkYH5pNVqnPzozoHs). I can't figure out how to uplaod a photo so I'll have to describe. Where the available replacement has a long metal pipe ending in a 180 degree bend, the line installed on my van has a short pipe with no bend. Does anyone have a similar van and can send a photo from underneath the engine showing the power steering HP line? Also, the space is very limited so I can't get the line off. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I dunno, you do have what, 125 years or so of prescient there...I can see it getting smaller etc, but removing the grill also removes styling opportunities make your product look different/better then the competition. I know this was brought up in the 1980s with the aero look Ford was implementing back then. 

Also keep in mind that a Maverick XL Hybrid is roughly the same price as Civic hybrid Sedan.    The Civic Sedan starts at 24K vs 27K for a Maverick with the 2L ecoboost...have to figure a price increase due to the CUV/truck "tax"    

Wonder if that has changed since the 2022 report, since Maverick is no longer the $20K bargain it once was. And since Civic offers a hybrid, maybe sedan buyers realized a truck makes more sense?   HRG

I hope it keeps the front light bar, at least in the BL model. Also I would like to see some features that are on the Chinese model and not in the US model

Im sure Ford lost people when they discontinued the Windstar too.    I’m still happy with our Edge (it’s my sons now).  Replaced it with a Mach-E.
