Another possibility for a new halo model, check this out, part of Ford's clay modeling exhibit front and center. Very clearly a new cobra/Daytona design study, probably just for show, but interesting to think about.
Maybe something that could ride on the mustang platform with just a few tweaks and serve as like a front-mid engine c8 rival?
That's why the big shot Baratt is Ex CEO of Ford UK. He abruptly left the company 5 years ago. The part of his statement that's true is Ford cannot keep building cars that do not have the demand. Ford's head honcho reiterated this principle, which makes business sense.
What Baratt did not say is the reason Focus, SMax/Galaxy, and Mondeo disappeared is that all of these vehicles are unremarkable anonymous unibody blobs in a sea of anonymous unibody blobs from a bunch of other brands. Same deal for Kuga. Selling this kind of product isn't conducive to Ford's profitability goals, either for the mother ship or Ford Europe.
I thought Bronco New Energy too, but 1) I think that was designed in China? and 2) the windshield looks more upright than BNE, though that could be an illusion.
Then star concept came to my mind as well. But apparently it was like a preview of the Lincoln three row EV that got canceled. Maybe Ford repurposed that design for a next gen aviator.
For the left one - perhaps this is the rumored Lincoln Bronco?
The hood and dash to axle look roughly the same....
For the right one, I wonder if that's related to the Star concept. The rear reminds me of it....
it's definitely longer in the back than Star, though......maybe the Aviator EREV will take a lot of Star design cues?
I'm starting to become skeptical of the new silhouette comment myself. It's occured to me maybe Farley is playing 4D chess. He knows these EVs look pretty normal, but have slightly unconventional proportions. So maybe he's hyping up how radical they'll look so that when people actually see them, it doesn't turn as many people off because they're more conventional than what they were expecting. Or Farley is used to playing it safe and his definition of radical is a lot different than ours lol.
That's a bit self-serving. Like bending over backwards to justify Ford's failure.
C segment is far from collapsing. Toyota has no problem selling Corolla and Prius. Honda has no problem with Civic. Hyundai still moves Elantra and i30. VW Golf is no longer top seller but Skoda Octavia more than makes up the falloff from Golf (not to mention Scala, ID3, A3, Leon, El Born etc).
Also, if customer wants SUVs, then why is Ford killing its 2nd most popular model in Europe (Kuga)? Like which part of that business plan make sense if what he said was true.
I wonder what this is, not the 4 door bronco, the other suv on the right. On one hand, it conveys the sleek, minimalist look I've come to expect for an EV, but it also is giving me strong Lincoln vibes. Whatever that is, I really like it, even if it does look like a range rover lol.
