Isn’t it ironic that Rivian was rejected because electric foundation was incompatible with Ford’s own engineering approach with hundreds of individual controllers….. Here again, I wonder what Jim Farley would have done differently now thst Ford embraces a similar philosophy in CE1. (South Park what would Brian Boitano do ) it seems like they had a great platform and partner with Rivian but Ford’s own engineering torpedoed the whole thing……

They are fun to drive though, and don’t forget the power of a low price tag. I don’t think a two door would be worth it, but the 4 Dr version might work. While it’s rear legroom is tiny, it’s not any worse than most other subcompacts.

Everything on my list is easily doable without huge new investments: Mustang Rally (or RS) - just like Porsche 911 Dakar but doesn't require inheritance or ponzi crypto scam level capital to buy RS200 style dedicated off-road sports car. I would pair this with the next GT development (assuming there is one). Basically a smooth pavement version called Ford GT and a rough pavement version calls Ford RS. Lincoln T6 SUV Bring Ford Everest to North America Off road package/trim level option for Lincoln Navigator - Take Expedition Tremor hardware and let Lincoln buyers in on the fun. Ford literally has nothing to lose to give this a try. Explorer Sport to fill the gap left behind by Escape. Could be based on next gen Territory or the rumored Maverick CUV (I think they are the same thing just different assembly locations) Add a smaller SUV below Everest using T6 (this could be paired with one of Ford's low cost pickup in China). I'm thinking the size of Escape but body on frame. Like the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ. In case you are wondering, FJ is the exact same size as the 2nd/3rd gen 4Runner. So a Ford competitor could be roughly be the size of original Explorer I didn't go over the pickup side but between FX4, Tremor, and Raptor, I think Ford got the truck side covered pretty good.

Now we're cooking with gas. I've said before how the RS 200 concept has an attractive front end, but the roofline and rear end needed some work. It looked a little awkward and bulbous. The shape of the roofline looked less like a mid-engine sports car and more like a model 3, it just didn't convey mid-engine performance car and looked more like a blob. So I merged it with other sports cars like the Elise to get a sportier, more seductive roofline and quarter panel. I actually really liked how this turned out. I could totally see how this could be a fun off-road sports car to rival things like the cayman, c8, and lotus models, but in a way that was differentiated. This looks sick as hell. Hopefully you guys can see why I saw if you're gonna do an off-road supercar like Farley wants, make it an actual supercar, not yet another truck or suv that just accelerates like a supercar. It doesn't have to be a trillion dollars and built in super limited numbers. We see there's a market for the kinda entry level mid-engine sports car at that 70, 80,90k price point where they're selling in the thousands. This could be ford's version of that. -
I still wish we could've seen it (along with some of the other stillborn products of late) just to see it.

On reflection, you’re right. The Lincoln was going to be much bigger like R1S

I definitely understand what you're saying by suggesting to just reuse Explorer powertrains to simplify production off the same platform (and presumably, plant). However, I feel like there's a different expectation of an ICE-powered product with a Mustang badge, as I mentioned above. Sure, plenty of folks would buy the base 2.3EB powertrain, but I feel like many would want the V8 from something Mustang badged that has an ICE powertrain.

If it’s Detroit news or Free Press, it will be behind a paywall anymore. It’s stupid. -
I actually was in Cozumel last week and saw a few Jimnys on the road. They're tiny.....definitely smaller than Bronco Sport. I'd question the appeal of something that small here.
