  1. A "Heritage" package has been in the works all along. Originally was supposed to be a '21 job 2. Now? ?‍♂️

  2. Performance wise it's more than worthy to be a Mach 1... but in my 'unbiased opinion' it still needs a hole in the hood (at least as an option) to earn the name:

  4. Agreed! Though I think 71-73 NACA ducts would have worked better given the large hood surface!!

  5. It may turn out, Jobama could wind up getting to hold cabinet meetings in his basement, but aside from listening to the defund this or that peep`s, then having someone (maybe the AOC crew) write executive orders (which he routinely criticized the bad orange man for doing), Jobama most likely won’t be getting much done. (the stangnant live and times of an influence peddler) Ahhh the day`s of all those great Obama results….. 8 years of Michele!!!! Michele!!!! MICHELE!!! those mean kids won`t play with me and I can`t get nuttin done. Only the names will change, Jobama will be screaming up from the basement MOM!!! MOM!!! MOM!!! those mean kids just called Kamala, TAMALA again and shes crying in the closet with sandy. I can hear it now, "world" can you call back in 4 years he`s really cranky. Dr. Jill has his med`s ready and may have him put down for a nap by then...

  8. OTA software updating as a way eliminating design cycles is BS ! It is there strictly to reduce the cost of "re-flashing" modules ! I worked on engine control software last century and was on the "support" side until 2007. I believe that the PCM software is still the only one that is "mostly" (>90%) written internal to Ford. Some modules may have a combination of Ford and vendor software (ABS/traction control). The dozens of other small modules are all purchased as a "black box". In the 90s, Ford got "burned" when they started using more computers for "other" tasks. I think it was a very early version of the GEM/SJB that they had to replace 3 times during one model year. Yes, I said REPLACE because the software was "cast" into the silicon (true ROM, not EPROM, not Flash). They quickly redesigned the module to include Flash. (PCMs had been using some type of re-programable memory since the 80s.) Segue - The F150 has always been the most complex PCM software because of the number of engines, 2wd/4wd, rear axle ratios and emission regulation (and in the past, transmissions) combinations. They would commonly have a dozen or more different software calibration. (Some may be familiar with the "tear tag" system. It used to be only 2 letters !) There was not enough space to store that many modules, pre-programmed, on the final assembly line, so the modules were pre-arranged in the proper build sequence "off line". It was only a few years ago (<10) that an "in process" programming device was custom built to flash the module as it went down the line. (They were retrieved at the end of the line, recharged and delivered back to the front of the line.)

  10. Top of the page under “dealer order guides”. Early build and price often has bugs. The order guide is usually correct.

  11. One issue that was really starting to "peak" before I retired, was testing of all of the different computer modules during a development cycle. Some development modules may have not been received before a scheduled testing session so there is nothing on the end of the wire. Some may have development software that still has bugs. Some may have development software that is not compatible with newer/older software in other modules. 13 years ago they did NOT have a good handle on this. The PCM used to be "the smartest kid on the block". Fastest CPU and most memory. It also had a lot of data that other modules wanted. (Where does the engine RPM come from ? How about vehicle speed, engine temp, oil pressure, etc. It is also the one that engages the starter (after the anti-theft says it is okay) and decides exactly when to stop stop spark and fuel and what needs to be done after that.) The PCM probably has the most severe government mandates applied. OBD-II should really be called OBD-93871 as it has probably had that many changes. (Just because you implement a test one way and it is approved, does not mean that CARB and/or EPA will approve it again next year.)

  12. Powertrain software development used to be (and likely still is) very closely timed with emission calibration and testing cycles which in turn are tied to the seasons of the year near Dearborn. (You can find hot weather in AZ of FL almost any time of the year, but cold weather only happens in North America in the winter.) Various techniques have been tried to speed up (or reduce the number of software engineers required) with little success. While I have very few contacts left inside Ford, it is amazing how little the overall Powertrain software development process has changed since the 1990s. The single biggest change was going from assembler language used on EEC-IV and V to the C programming language on later processors. I guess the other change is now purchasing gets to make the call on the supplier of choice for both module and System-On-a-Chip (SOC). The buyer probably sourced fastener last year !

  13. JP-good info- hopefully once the air brake option goes into production for 7.3 powered 750s we will get a bump there. Although-my broken record speech- I really think the 750 needs a Cummins/Allison option to compete with International , F'liner and the Paccar twins in class 7 But back to F-600 I stopped in at local dealer the other day that within the last year hired a commercial truck manager for the first time. His biggest bitch? Delayed deliveries out of OAP! And he was doing well with F-600. He said.."like the landscaper dump out there". I thought when I went by it that it was a 550-very popular stock truck around here that dealers stock with high side dumps that the landscapers buy to haul brush and chips and mulch. The attraction though of a 600 vs a 550 with the same body is the 600 at 22,000 will let you carry a decent amount of loam or stone whereby the 550 is maxed out at 19.5

  15. A classic grill more true to the original bronco would be awesome. Would also love a tailgate conversion kit. I love that you can go from an open-air experience in the summer and close it up nice and tight for winter. Also love how you can keep your nice, stock body panels for the streets and buy special fenders and doors specifically just for the trail.

  21. Shows quick and easy swapping of parts for the SEMA build with squared off wheel openings plus Q&A with Ford designers, including their own model and tranny preferences... plus it sounds like dealers will be getting accessorized Broncos for their customers to see in "the first part of next year".

  24. Biden could not fill a Taco Bell parking lot with supporters. He supposedly got the most votes of any president ever ? The other party picked up senate seats but did not vote for the president ? Yeah , that's legit.................lol

  26. Ugh, I am so sick of this. If your vote isn't received by the time the polls close ON Election Day, it should not count. Period. Early voting lasted long enough there should be absolutely no excuse it wasn't received in time. Edit: seems one person who's opinion actually matters agrees with me

  28. You are absolutely right. The MKX seats are like sitting on a carpeted floor. Short drives are not bad, but after 50 miles, it becomes a pain. My guess is Ford won't spend the money to put in smaller seat controls, leaving no room for cushioning. My wife bought me a cushion, but it defeats the use of the seat heat and a/c. I think a lot of the discomfort also comes from the shape. The Honda Fit and the Dodge suv have good seats without a lot of cushion. Ford needs to re assign their seat person. The last 3 Fords we have owned did not have good seats, 93 F 150, no back adjustment on the bench seat, cushion was like sitting on a balloon the first 3 or 4 years, 99 Cobra, seats worse than the V6 base mustang, ??, again the seat cushion was like sitting on a balloon. K mart had better seats on their lawn mowers. I bought a set of Corbeau's, giving up the power seat and never regretted it. 03 Escape seats an improvement, but nothing to get excited about. No side support and the cushion is thin. I could not change the seats out, due to loosing the side airbags. 88 Bronco II, I could ride in this vehicle for days. Seats had power lumbar and no power. Side support was good for Ford, cushion was good, back adjustments good. Is Ford backing up on their seat comfort? I bought the MKX to travel in, but the seats sure hurt the comfort. Ford are you listening. I may have a few more car purchases left in me.
