FordBuyer
Just checked out the new '09 Escape on my neighborhood Ford Dealers lot. They have 6, all XLT's with three being new I4 and three being new V6's. All are FWD only and all have Moon and Sync packages that retail for $1190. Only exterior changes I noticed were new colors, new chin spoiler and little spoiler in front of rear wheel that is affxed to lower rocker panel. The FWD 2.5L engine is built in Mexico and gets 20 city and 28 highway. The V6 which has no badges gets 18 and 26 highway. Very impressive with 240 hp available. All six on lot had Sync. rscalzo
I don't expect to see a large number of 09's to start flowing in until the backlog of 08's starts moving out. My dealer has 77 on the lot at this time and this guy gives very good deals. Ford might have to sweeten the pot a bit to clear them out. I'm with you. Life is getting too complicated. I have been traveling a little this summer and I just study my 50 state Atlas and it gets me there like beeline. I have had this Atlas since the 70's and it has gotten me to California and New York with no problems. To Florida also. Really don't see need for Navigation system yet anyway. My vehicle has built in compass on rear view mirror and I just need to know direction and I'm set. Wouldn't mind adaptive headlights and rear view camera, but that is about it for me. Michael Reynolds
I wish they had the hybrids on the lot a month ago, as I would have bought one of those instead of the FX. And as far as pairing Sync, it is a very simple process.
Deanh
How old/young are the customers? my age...may be the problem....LOL! truley I can"t be bothered with anything too "techie"....hell my cell phone is two spagetti cans with a long peice of string...how ATT STILL sees fit to charge me a monthly service bill is beyond me....there is NO way one can be trained by a salesperson on these features...they are truley hands on...if I had Synch and nav in my own car that is how I would learn....but I do not, which my explain my disdain and total lack of interest...I also DO not answer my cell when in the car...... MadOx23
I'm definitely going to look into these come January when the wife's lease is up. The 2.5 Escape getting 20/28 is as good as my Fusion....

ANTAUS
"The V6 which has no badges " So if Ford has this new philosophy that the more powerful, upgraded engine is taboo.... why don't they lower the price on the V6's, so it's less then the 4 cylinders I'll be damned if I spend money on a car, I wanna make sure V-8 IS on it loud and clear. And if not they better have an aftermarket badge at the dealership to affix to it.

Sixt9coug
That is why you don't do ANYTHING with Microsoft. Nothing 'simple' about anything they do... it wasnt that hard. we had an Explorer as a rental with Sync not too long ago on a business trip and we got the phones hooked up to it without a problem. Hell, we didnt even have a manual to work off of. It was kinda cool to mess with the system and if I was gonna buy a new Ford right now it would be a must have. Microsoft is simply an easy target just because, and only because they are so successful. It's the same reason Wal-Mart has such a big target on them. It's not like either one of these companies isn't doing anything that every one of their competitors is doing, it's just that Microsoft and Wal-Mart have done it with more success. Dean, did your dealership send anyone to the SYNC training seminar last summer? I went down to the one in Philly (I'm my dealership's SYNC Specialist), and I love SYNC (no h at the end). Its extremely easy to use, and 95% of problems are phone/user error. When someone gives me their phone to pair, it only takes me a minute or two (as long as its a current Bluetooth phone. Older phones don't work). If you need any help, let me know. Edited July 23, 2008 by 05fordgt

For under $200 you can have a great navigation system. The hardware is usually standard and the software is sometimes identical in them (all have preloaded US and Canada). They all work the same. Pretty simple and very accurate. Hard to say no to less than $200 if you travel to places you don't know.
