Ford Jellymoulds
DEARBORN, Mich., Oct., 1, 2009 – Ford, Lincoln and Mercury third quarter sales were 5 percent higher than a year ago in the U.S., making Ford the only full-line manufacturer to report a sales increase in the period. In September, Ford sales were 6 percent lower than a year ago. This followed a 2 percent increase in July and a 17 percent increase in August, marking the first time in four years that Ford is reporting a quarterly sales increase. Ford estimates it gained over 2 points of market share versus last year in September and the third quarter. September marked the 11th time in the last 12 months Ford has gained retail market share. "Our balanced new lineup of high-quality, fuel-efficient products helped us navigate through an exceptional period in industry sales," said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. "With its volatile sales peaks and valleys and dramatic segment shifts, the third quarter was a great test of our One Ford Plan – building a range of vehicles from small cars to hard-working trucks." Ford's third quarter market share gains were paced by the Ford Focus small car, Ford Fusion mid-size car, Ford Escape small utility and Ford F-Series trucks. Internal and external studies continue to show a positive trend in favorable consumer opinion about Ford, and a growing number of consumers are considering the purchase of a Ford vehicle LINK Edited October 2, 2009 by staff

RichardJensen
Will be interesting to see what rolls in from other mfrs., as Ford is predicting a 2pt. gain in market share off a 6% decline in volume.

jasonj80
Volvo and Mercury are sad -- not one Volvo model sold over 1,000 units in the month and Mercury sold only 5,443 Units. I wish they broke out rental fleets vs regular fleet, TC sales are probably being recorded as fleet sales.

silvrsvt
Ford Flex sales totaled 9,815, up 59 percent versus a year ago. The Flex is among the most fuel-efficient full-size crossover utilities in America. So much for it being a failure! Mustang Sales have flattened out also.....though did the Carpmo outsell it again? T-Stag will be pleased to see Volvo V50 sales up 213% he likes percentages %%%%, but to you & me Jason 119 +254 sales is still shit. Good ole Classic F-Series with 33,877 sales, backbone of Fords US sales.
fordmantpw
The Mark LT is going to be a rare truck, only 144 so far this year. It was discontinued for the 2009 model year...the last ones were built around July/August time frame last year. That said, they didn't sell a bunch when they were in production. FordBuyer
Wow. Thats alot better than I expected. F-series sales are up. WooHoo. Ford beat expectations again. That's all you can really hope for in this economy. Beat expectations and you are the winner competitively. You can't compare it to normal times. Everyone fails if you do that. Ford has beaten expectations for quite some time now. IMO, Ford will keep robbing market share from others, especially GM and Chrysler for many more months. jpvbs
Also of interest, F-Series +3.5% With c4c in August, they were up ~40%. While certainly not at those levels this month, it is still a good showing. Chevy trucks, even with c4c, were down double digits in August. I'm curious to see their numbers for September. Ranger sales were way off in September, probably because they sold them all in August. Explorer sales are way up for September and Edge sales are way down (Edge sold out so people are buying the Explorer instead?).

Kev-Mo
Better than i expected. And how did Explorer post gains?!?!?! Perhaps because it is a really nice SUV and people still need some UTILITY to go with thier Sport. Edited October 1, 2009 by Kev-Mo

630land
Hmm, Taurus up 60%, who's still saying the D3 is a flop? Shows that styling still matters to some buyers. But, also, advertising helps. People still thought the Taurus was the same car as the old DN101, but ads showing the new looks and features promoted a new car. Looks like the D3 is paying its way, and soon the D3 based Explorer will add more. Some say buyers will not want unibody, but look at what they actaully carry: shopping bags, kids, and sports gear. Catalepsy
I still don't undrestand why Ford insists on updating the drivetrain separately... Ford needs the new engines for the Mustang like rash cream in a whorehouse about now... WOW! Under 20,000 Silverados. Ouch. Camaro did outsell Mustang again though. :yup: Edited October 1, 2009 by Catalepsy

jpd80
How much longer will this go on? It seems like a whole choir of fat ladies are singing over at GM but no one is listening...... on topic, This is for the Ecoboost naysayers: EcoBoost engine launch continues; September sales were nearly triple August, customer demand outstripping projections Yeah, those Ecoboost engines are just plain awful.......NOT .... LINK Crown Victoria: 1,747 Taurus: 5,077 Fusion: 10,834 ..........Malibu 10,479 Focus: 9,182 Mustang: 4,917..........Camaro 7,961 Flex: 2,033 Edge: 4,477 Escape: 8,692 Taurus X: 81 Expedition 2,370 Explorer 4,450 F-Series 33,877 Ranger 2,052 Econoline/Club Wagon 6,786 Transit Connect 1,527 Low Cab Forward 19 Edited October 1, 2009 by jpd80
inteller
only down 5.1%.....wow that is a major victory! Considering the welfare turds GM and Chrysler were down 40-45% I think Americans are clearly supporting capitalism and not nationalism.
