With 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, it's the most powerful Lincoln ever. That big number will only be available in all-wheel-drive versions of the MKZ. With front-wheel drive the engine will be detuned to an estimated 350 horsepower to retain some level of driving refinement. A further option on the AWD model will be the Driver's Pack, which adds the same torque-vectoring rear differential as on the forthcoming Focus RS. With the promise of rear-wheel-drive handling characteristics, the MKZ could be the most fun-to-drive Lincoln ever. In addition to the V6, a 245-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo four, and a hybrid model will be available. -The capacitive-touch sliding controls are gone, replaced by buttons and knobs. -Lincoln firsts include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection and all-speed adaptive cruise control. The MKZ comes with the latest version of Ford's park assist system, which will now maneuver out of parallel parking spots and automate perpendicular parking. -The MyLincoln Mobile app will also debut on the MKZ (presumably like the one that debuted on Escape last night). Yeah, I got excited and posted the thread with just a link before putting more info and pics in the post. --- So the new grille gets put on it. In the official pictures, from some angles I almost think it makes the car look heavy if that makes sense. But seeing the live pictures, it looks much better. The rear didn't change except what appears to be a slightly reworked lower diffuser area type thing. The interior design remains mostly the same, with upgraded materials, which was definitely it's biggest shortcoming after sitting in it at shows since the MKC debuted. I'm looking at the rest of the car and though it's rounded in the front, it remains the sharper edges in the rear. I don't know if that's an improvement or not. Brass tacks: 400hp/400tq? That blows the EB35 away. I wonder what the transmission is? The press release doesn't say anything about what tranny it's paired with. For a long time, I was focused on the MKC because I just couldn't REALLY get behind the MKZ. But this...this is awesome. The 3.0 will likely be hefty, cost-wise, but still can't complain about 245hp from the 2.0. It's now at the top of my list for my next car (even though it's probably a few years away). Also love Lincoln finally putting the real tech in a vehicle. The XF has a 340 and 380 supercharged V6 family. Yes they're RWD and AWD unlike here. I wonder how that will play out? Looks like Lincoln is finally starting to turn the corner to be a respectable Luxury car company again. Other cool things...torque vectoring from the Focus RS is optional.
