jpd80
Might the MKC changes/upgrades foreshadow what will become the new chassis for the Escape, i.e. the Escape will simply adopt the upgrades given the MKC, thus unifying the products? It's possible that Ford is stair stepping evolution of the Escape and MKC but suspect and hope that NG Escape and MKC will have longer wheelbases 105.9" hopefully becomes 107.9"and more aligned with competition trends. BORG
The MKC is a different platform to current Escape so your assertion is flawed right form the start. Ford also builds Flex and MKT alongside Edge and MKX production at Oakville... The key is that all those vehicles have the same build sequences with different off line parts so it wouldn't surprise me to see MKC hang around until Ford decides to change it and more importantly, they're just gearing up for more sales into China next year or so... Debating with you is like talking to a brick wall, yet the brick wall seems to have a better understanding of the world around it. jpd80
Debating with you is like talking to a brick wall, yet the brick wall seems to have a better understanding of the world around it. I'm done, Happy New Year! Happy New Year to you too It's hardly a debate when you take four days to respond. and here's another clue for you and Biker, the next gen Escape is not tied to Focus, Focus is tied to Fiesta - that the big difference in all of this you keep missing. Connect the dots.. Edited January 3, 2017 by jpd80

PREMiERdrum
Sorry to get things back on-topic, but... Mike Levine just checked in at Flat Rock for what looks like an 11am announcement. Mustang to debut ahead of the show? akirby
I like the way Ford introduces new vehicles outside the normal auto show events. It usually results in exclusive coverage from all media outlets as opposed to being lost in a sea of 20 or 30 other intros.

fuzzymoomoo
Ford cancels the Mexico plant. Seems likely that they will just cancel the Ranger/Bronco and keep Focus in the US. Focus is going to Hermosillo.
fuzzymoomoo
Probably time for a new thread Official press release via Mike Levine on twitter https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia-mobile/fna/us/en/news/2017/01/03/ford-adding-electrified-f-150-mustang-transit-by-2020.html
BORG
Focus is going to Hermosillo. They have the capacity for that? They are already maxed out on Fusion.
fuzzymoomoo
They have the capacity for that? They are already maxed out on Fusion. Apparently. It came right from Mark Fields and confirmed in the press release.
PREMiERdrum
They have the capacity for that? They are already maxed out on Fusion. Apparently. It came right from Mark Fields and confirmed in the press release. I'm guessing it can at least partially be explained with the obvious decline in these segments... especially forecasting out to when these changes take effect? fordmantpw
They have the capacity for that? They are already maxed out on Fusion. Consumer shifts. Likely expecting decreased demand for Fusion and Focus along with increased demand for utilities.
silvrsvt
Just saw on Twitter that Flat Rock will be building autonomous vehicles...using some deduction skills...it might indicate that Fusion Production might be starting up there again, since the Fusion has been used in testing that tech and comes in electrified forms. 630land
Maybe will rebuild Wixom to bring back RWD Town Car and Mark #? Or a new Atlanta plant to make fleet only "Taurus Classics"? ;-)

Isn't there still plans to expand current infrastructure in Mexico? I know the plans to expand Chihuahua Engine are still a go. I know someone who had a hand in it.
