Richard Novak
I was really hoping the 2018 Expedition would bow in Detroit this year, maybe alongside the Navigator. I guess I'll just have to wait. 'Til then, if anyone with some Photoshop skill wanted to mate the front end of the refreshed F-150 with the back end of a Expy with a real spoiler similar to the Explorer, I'd love to see it

akirby
We expected it at the Detroit auto show. Nobody really knows at this point.
Harley Lover
Chicago would make sense, since New York has traditionally been for Lincoln reveals.

RichardJensen
They may not even tie the reveal to an auto show. I tend to agree with this. I think they're going to do a 'social media' launch, especially given the target audience.
Dlcorbett
hopefully its soon. i kinda have a feeling theyll do a teaser for it during a super bowl commercial, like how cadillac teased the ct6 before the official unveilling.

tbone
The rear roof line of the test vehicle looks like it curves down more, which contrasts with the current version, giving it a newer, more modern look.
Dlcorbett
itll have the silhouette reminiscent of the navigator concept. i think the sloping roof will somewhat hide a longer body for increased cargo/passenger space. also, looking closely at the headlights, it looks to be a combination of the explorer and new 18 mustang headlights. im loving those 22s. please ford make the ccd suspension optional with 20in rims though, they make the current expy ride ridiculously good, im sure new lighter platform with suspension and tighter body updates will just any compettitors truck out the water. im really interested in the interior, there are no interior spy pics at all. hopefully exploreresque but better packaged. what do you guys think the interior should be influenced like, explorer, f150, edge, fusion/chinese taurus/ or new ecosport
tbone
I think it should be an Explorer influence. The Explorer sells to a wide array of people. I do not think the F-150 influence would be appropriate for this vehicle.
atomcat68
I'd be surprised if the styling strays too far from the way it is now. You should be able to tell it is all new, but still recognize it as an Expedition. I'd do what they do with the Mustang. The Lincoln is where you make the bold statement. jpd80
Start with, will Ranger and Explorer share internal structural panels and if so, does that mean the roof line and door portals are the same? Then advance to, will Expedition and Navigator be separated by clever skin panels and interior trims?

They need to update the styling if they want to go head to head with Tahoe/Suburban. Current one is too trucky. Updated Explorer styling is what I expect - that one has proven popular. Updated Explorer styling is what I expect - that one has proven popular. That's kind of what I meant too. The Explorer still looks like an Explorer. The Escape completely threw out the old design which was the right call on that market segment, but that kind of urban modern style would not go over well with a full size. It still needs to be somewhat truckish.
Dlcorbett
yea, the pickup trucks interiors also look dated to me now. this maybe because its offeres throughout the line so its always visible. though nice, i think its a bit too incohesive for the target demographic that the new full sized suvs have nowadays

You can look at the Navigator concept as a starting point - they went low, "flowing," and horizontal with the design elements, where the F-150 is blocky and more vertically oriented. Expedition would start with Navigator's hard points, which point to a lower/wider interior than the blocky F-150.
rmc523
I don't know if this is accurate, but this site is saying... We received an email from Ford inviting us to the Dallas Cowboys’ training facility early next month. The reason? To witness the unveiling of “an all-new vehicle that is the very definition of adaptable, smart and capable,” said the invitation.Hmmm… what could that be? These three adjectives could be applied to many vehicles, especially when at the hands of a trend-setting automaker’s marketing department. After pondering what Ford could have in store, we believe that when the massive cover comes off next month in Texas, we’ll be looking at the next-generation Ford Expedition. Sure, it’s just a guess. But it’s an educated guess. Here’s why:...... http://www.ford-trucks.com/articles/ford-secret-texas-vehicle-reveal/ I've read this coming Tuesday is when this is supposed to take place. --- If this is true, that would mean something else debuting at Chicago.....which could lend credibility to the reports of some sort of Explorer (whether another refresh or a full redesign) debuting at Chicago. If there's a Ford debuting in Texas, it's almost certainly a truck. The F150's MCE has already been revealed and the Super Duty is still new (plus, they're normally shown at the Texas State Fair in October), so that pretty much leaves Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger. (Maybe the new Raptor, though it has been in ads for a few weeks.) It seems to me that the Bronco and Ranger are still too far out for reveals, so that leaves Expedition as the odds-on favorite. If the Expedition is shown in Texas, that could leave the Navigator for Chicago (though I guess that'd be a Lincoln reveal rather than a Ford reveal)...
