Allows them to lower the truck and give better fuel economy/crash compatibility but give the visual impression that the Truck is taller than it really is. fordmantpw
Wow, it looked so much better when all we could see were the headlights.

tbone
Well it's a preliminary impression of course, but I don't see this stealing many F150 sales. I feel this is a step down from the current style, which I like.

Anthony
I have a soft spot for the Ram 1500. I saw this earlier and just thought to myself, meh. It certainly isnt ugly, but not a standout in styling like Rams have been. Too much is taken away when they downsize the shoulders. Meh. akirby
77-79 F150 had the badging in the same place. It’s one of the things that make it my favorite model but the letters were much smaller.
Pioneer
Front looks like a mixture of the Tundra and Silverado, and that lower valence looks really busy. I'll hold judgement until we see the infotainment system. The wrong display angle could make or break this truck. That's a not so pointed shot at akirby and others who are vehemently defending the tablet glued to the dash look that is showing up in cars now. akirby
Since when did saying it’s not so bad become “vehemently defending” it?

You just happen to be the only one I can specifically remember.
akirby
you haven't been as vehimate as others. You just happen to be the only one I can specifically remember. It's the only way to get a larger screen into a smaller dash without making the center stack enormous or sticking it in a "hood" on top. The fact that some don't like it doesn't make it bad design. And I stick by my statement of it being awkward to use the lower and left side of the touchscreen in the Escape and Focus because it's recessed. Especially the lower left corner. YMMV.

Also it impacts the width of the center stack of the dash also...I know I have less leg room (well when I cross my legs) in my wife's 2017 Escape vs the 2010 she had. Its not like Ford hasn't had issues with interior space on its products either...not to mention having a shared tablet style panel across multiple products would help cut costs...they already have two different versions of MFT/Sync3 on products. Anthony
Holy monster touchscreen!https://www.autoblog.com/2017/10/31/2019-ram-1500-interior-spy-shots-vertical-touchscreen/ In the case of Ram, that includes FCA's well-regarded UConnect infotainment system. And judging by this latest set of spy shots, the 2019 Ram 1500's UConnect 4.0 package will include an inverted LCD screen.Vertical-oriented touchscreens are already available in certain Tesla, Volvo, and Toyota Prius Prime models, but this is the first such system we've seen in a pickup truck. The tall screen is flanked by hard buttons – some of which duplicate on-screen climate controls – and an additional set of software buttons appear at the bottom. Toggle switches below the screen include an option to manually raise and lower the Ram's air suspension setup. And finally, two dials remain for audio volume and tuning functions. tbone
Thats intriguing, Id like to learn more about thiis. However this may be the best thing about the truck considering the spy shots Ive seen of the exterior.
PREMiERdrum
A vertical screen is going to be quote challenging to design UI for, especially in an in-dash application. Forcing drivers to reorient their eyes from the horizontal plane of the windscreen to the vertical plans of this display is not optimal. Traditional 4:3 screens were disharmonious enough as it is until landscape 16:9 started becoming more popular for this application.
Bob Rosadini
Well the big news is they are going to continue building the old truck in the 1500 version with the specific aim of knocking Cheby out of second place. Apparently they feel they can build the "old" trucki at a much lower cost than the new one and beat GM on price.

silvrsvt
Looks like the stuck an Tablet in the dash! This won't really work in other applications because of the width of the dash isn't as great in smaller products.
