T-dubz
Borg was mentioning on gmi that there’s a maverick crossover too. That would lower the costs some with them sharing the majority of parts. that got me wondering though, isn’t the bronco sport basically a maverick crossover? There’s been rumors of another CUV product that might replace the Ecosport in North America. That might be it.

Its the short C/long C play which other mfrs have been doing. Both are C platform but two different lengths.

Does that mean that this truck would be smaller in size then the escape/bronco sport, or would the maverick crossover be larger than the current Ecosport? I can see a compact escape/bronco sport sized truck working in the USA, but I don’t see a sub compact fiesta size truck doing very well. The CUV would be shorter then the before mentioned, but bigger then the Ecosport. The Ecosport is really short vs other competitors

T hawker
IMHO, Ford is not trying for another family hauler, that's covered. They also are not trying to offer a truck that you can put an entire kitchen remodel in, that's covered. I'm thinking back to when i was growing up. Mom had an LTD Country Squire wagon, the family hauler. Dad had an early 1970's Datsun pickup. He needed something cheap for running back and forth to work but could use it to make a dump run or grab some lumber at Handymans (does that date me). Never intended to move the family or a house full of furniture. That small 2 door truck was perfect for the average middle-class home owner. Edited May 12, 2020 by T hawker . Mazdafied
Lets hope something replaces the Ecopsort sooner then later, if I could have it my way it would be the Puma from Europe.
Mazdafied
And yes back to the Maverick, I think it will be offered in may configurations, afterall most of the cost in a vehicle goes into the mechanicals which are off the shelf, sheeetmetal costs very little. Vehicles, and namely pickups and their usage by customers have vastly changed since then, though.

They are going to use Territory from China to replace the Ecosport, or are you talking about something all together different that replaces both? bzcat
I'm saying the next gen Territory is probably going to be the same thing as the low cost C-CUV that is intended for South America. CX758 or whatever it is called is probably not a regional program - the math doesn't work unless you factor in potential sales in other emerging markets. Ford was planning to introduce the current Territory in South America in 2020. Not sure if it is still on track given the Coronavirus situation. So make sense that next gen would also be sold in both China and South America. This is a bit OT for this thread but the only way Ford can save its South America operation is to bring over more Chinese models. VW and GM are doing the same... the low end of Chinese market is very similar to South America... they both want cheap and they don't particularly care for fancy European designs. Ford needs an entire suite of emerging market cars: B hatch/sedan: Ka/Figo B+ sedan: ??? C sedan: Escort B CUV: EcoSport C CUV: Territory B pickup: ??? C pickup: Maverick Edited May 13, 2020 by bzcat
zipzoomflyfast
Perhaps the Maverick will be a pickup plus offer a CUV, but slightly longer than the Escape it is based on...think if it as a 3 row Escape.

Currently under review, but unlikely to be canceled. It's a Ford, and it isn't a Bronco.
jniffen
Wish it would have the Flex style, and not a EcoSport look. Not the Flex size, just more unique, like the Flex was unique.

jpd80
All of Ford's Mexican products spell good news for dealers, finally they are getting products that will attract buyers in decent volume. Now if only Ford Credit would start acting more aggressively with competitive finance, those hard working sales staff could complete a lot more deals. I kind of agree, but then again Honda has the horrible HRV and Chevy the TRAX. So maybe in the subcompact CUV segment you don't need much to compete. That new Chevy Trailblazer is not much either. Yeah and Ecosport covers compact utility for now from a low cost region but man, the prices they're charging go up quickly
