Could they also be considering offers for brands that exist which may have prompted today's news? I'm guessing the brands on the line are Chrysler, Chrysler,Chrysler, DS, Chrysler,Chrysler, Vauxhall and Chrysler.

Dodge would be on probation, but at least they do have concrete future product shown for that brand. The quick change of heart for the Airflow and then saying it will be another product while showing some concept car does not bode well for Chrysler. I believe in that case the decision has been made and this announcement is to brace investors so it isn't a total shock. Any more failure of the Charger and future CUV for Dodge will be the last straw for them. They will not let anything else fail like the Hornet without repercussions. mackinaw
Maybe only Ram and Jeep will survive.
akirby
Dodge was dead when they switched trucks to Ram.
AGR
There is way more overlap in Europe than there is at the former Chrysler. Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat, and Opel/Vauxhall are all mostly chasing the same customers. There is also significant overlap with Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and DS.

I would guess that Vauxhall is not needed as it is just Opel with a different name, so just rename it Opel. DS is pointless and they could do without Lancia, although they are trying to rebuild that brand now.
Andrew L
Profitability is the big thing there. Dodge had a lot of old products that kept it profitable but with all new stuff and the Hornet not selling it's going to be tough to turn it around for Dodge. Unless they move RAM back under Dodge... rmc523
I don't know why DS was made its own brand. I agree that the problems here are more on the European front than the US front, but Chrysler is probably on thin ice, as mentioned above without any product aside from Pacifica. brucelinc
One thing that would doom Dodge for sure would be if I buy a two door six pack when it becomes available. Every damn car I ever have owned has been discontinued except the Mustang and F150. It is a miracle they have survived considering my history. Thunderbird, Lincoln LS, Lincoln MKS, Lincoln Continental, Ranger Supercab, Taurus, BMW M550i..........I killed them all! 🤣

Opel and Vauxhall are essentially one brand with minor differences in badging. The main difference is steering wheel location. Opels are sold on the continent, Vauxhalls are sold in the British Isles. Edited July 27, 2024 by AGR

Well, it would save some money for not needing a different emblem on the front and back and in some cases a different grill (though I think now they might be the same). But 99.9% the same. Those badges and grills can add up. The expensive part would probably be re-branding all the dealerships. Dequindre
I will never buy another Stellantis product if they drop our U.S. brands. Both FCA and Stellantis have starved the U.S. of new product for a decade while shoveling money toward low-volume Italian and other European brands that have yet to turn a profit (Maserati, Alfa Romeo, DS, etc.). ColonelColt
Roughly 50% of Chrysler sales are to fleets…rental car companies, governments and commercial businesses that require work trucks and vans. Chrysler almost went under during the recession and the Covid shutdown when rental car companies all but stopped buying vehicles. If the fleet sales go away it’s all too easy to see Chrysler being dropped.

T-dubz
It’s funny, their American brands all sell mostly one type of product. Ram - trucks dodge - cars jeep - suvs chysler - minivan Seems wasteful to have 4 companies that cover the same lineup that most other automakers have in one company. Here’s how I would try to fix stellantis in America. 1. Kill Chrysler 2. Move Ram back under Dodge 3. If there’s still a market for minivans, bring back the caravan. 4. Dodge focuses more on SUVs, taking styling cues from the Ram instead of dodge cars as is currently being done. Share platforms with jeep or other brands to keep costs down 5. Jeep drops to 4 models; wrangler, grand Cherokee, gladiator and a bronco sport competitor 6. Wagoneer S gets changed to a Dodge 7. Dodge gets more affordable entries, including small SUVs and a maverick competitor 8. expand TRX to other models like Raptor
