yes Autocar is still around.  we have a dealer here in Mass,  I think they are probably on the very high end price wise.  They have been building the cab over for quite a few years with refuse their primary market. Can't say I see a lot of the new conventional but they are selling. I have a sales sheet from the early 80's...and if I put my Mack and Ford prejudices aside, I have to say those A-Cars back then were probably the best. The fact that there are quite a few still in service-tandem and triaxle dumps- in this area is testimony to that.

They did talk about radical simplification 😂.

Probably right, though it would be cool to see.  Active aerodynamic design features like spoilers and grille shutters have become more common so maybe a diffuser isn’t that out of the question.  Corolla’s low price point may not allow it for a mass-market vehicle yet, but it may not be that expensive, at least if in a scaled down production version.  Toyota knows how to manufacture stuff affordable so if anyone can do it….   I’ll look for other pictures because I can’t clearly see much detail from that angle with all the reflections and all.  Who knows, it may not even be a retractable diffuser? 😀

Obligatory, patent images don't necessarily hint at future designs, but I believe this latest patent image gives us our best look yet at the CE1 truck. It carries over the cab forward proportions of the other patents, but looks far much flushed out in terms of details, and actually looks stylized.    The first few cab forward patent images looked like pretty generic cab forward proposals, this looks like the kind of design I could actually see Ford releasing.    I quite like it. This is about as good as a cab forward looking truck could look imo.

Separate sources suggest not for North America (tariffs for one) but Europe seams likely but would require a decent ICE product to justify a high-end engine….could all be wishful thinking.

No way in hell on that I'd say. But the overall shape and styling, I can see making it to production. 

Recipe for disaster. I think high end vehicles are a nice sweetener, I fully support the mustang GTD, or bronco raptor, or gt as vehicles which are both highly profitable, but also boost Ford's reputation as a badass enthusiast brand. I fully believe Ford has a real future in building a strong base around higher margin iconic products.    But I also believe Ford needs to have a more balanced approach. It sounds like CE1 is gonna be a hero of epic proportions, but Ford needs to go even further beyond that with things like more c2 offerings.    Especially as it looks increasingly likely that we're gonna head into a recession in the near future. Affordable offerings are extremely important right now. The maverick is great, but we need more of that with affordable crossover, SUV, van, sedan, hatchback, and coupe offerings.
