I think the appeal was mostly with the diesel crowd.

I don't see why a new Excursion has to be SD based this time around. The Excursion was rated at 11k pounds for towing with the diesel. The current Expedition is rated for 9.6k pounds. Perhaps with a diesel or larger V8 gas engine, coupled with a beefier transmission could be put under the current body style. More of an Excursion package / trim than an all new model. 

Yeah, I definitely wonder what they're going to do with next-gen styling.  I'd imagine they'll try not to stray too far from the current successful look, but they also have to change it enough to convince buyers to upgrade...

I like that more than I thought I might. Looks better than the Gladiator, which I’ve always found to have something awkward about it. Too bad any future Bronco variant would be a next-gen model at this point and could look drastically different.

Spark plug wire, #4 IIRC, was strapped to wiring bundle traversing fender/firewall to top of manifold.   That HIGH VOLTAGE wire should NEVER be strapped to sensor/control wiring, a broken down insulation means serious damage to controls and computer systems. Automotive ignition transformer secondary voltages range from ~35Kv initial switching impulse to 5-8 Kv firing. This will DESTROY things it arcs over to.   With high voltage, theres greatly increased chance for E field coupling and ignition noise to be coupled into other circuits.   It was moved to being secured to #2 wire.

2020, 45K, Econo, AC on, bed cover, a few hundred pounds load. Level road, mixture of foot and cruise control. 70 psi Michelin tires. Mid grade gas (E10, 89 octane summer fuel) Auto trans control, not manual shift. 5-30 engine oil.   Highway - 45-50 m.p.h., 28-33 mpg. (average closer to 28, peaked today at 33)                        65-70 mph - 22-23 mpg.   UP FROM 15.5 - 17 at 70 mph.   Mr. Fords engineering made a under-hood mistake. Found, Fixed.
