Oh he's definitely referring to using Ford's affordable EV platform here. One of my favorite bits of info is him talking about having over-the-top customization and color choices. Those both sound like things we'll see on Ford branded EVs as well.
Offering a ton of fun colors, and interesting accessory add ons would definitely make these EVs more aspirational and appealing.
Majority of buyers won’t consider an EV so no cross shopping for them. Some will only consider an EV so no cross shopping for them. It’s a small cross section that would equally consider both.
LAP was just offered SRI. Only 69 members signed up. They are going to be layed off for 10-12 months starting in Nov or Dec for retooling.
KTP may be next to be offered the packages.
I don’t mean to rain on people’s parade here but,
Whatever Ford was planning with a 100% EV Lincoln line up was to appease Bill Ford,
as much as he wants Lincoln to survive, it must be done economically but while Lincoln
is barely 4% of Ford’s North American sales, it simply cannot cover selling just BEVs.
The reality is BEVs, hybrids and PHEVs shared with Ford is a much better plan,
how they do that effectively is the real challenge….
I get where you're coming from, brands like Lincoln and Rolls Royce where their entire thing is like smooth, refined, effortless luxury, that sort of thing with suit EVs really well, and I totally believe when the time is right, EVs with be a great addition to the Lincoln lineup.
But the timing does need to be right. Lincoln in terms of owner demographics trends towards elderly people, and more conservative people, so basically the demographic least likely to buy an EV.
I believe it would make more sense to wait a few years, so there's naturally more acceptable of EVs, but also for Lincoln to make strategic decisions to create products that appeal to a younger audience, the types of buyers that are naturally more receptive to buying EVs. Apparently nautilus is attracting a younger buyer than the average Lincoln owner, so that's progress in the right direction.
I don't understand this one, Lincoln seems like the perfect brand to introduce higher end EVs and still be able to make some money on them and EV is perfect for quiet flight. Lincoln clearly isn't chasing any performance or sporting numbers. Load it up with all the tech to take on the high end EVs and let it trickle down to Ford as the market adapts.
I like the styling of the Mach E, but seems like an "almost there" attempt to me. Almost the same range, almost the same power, almost the same tech, etc but not quite (from what I've read). If the car was for me I probably would've looked a little harder, but the FSD is so good on the Tesla it'd still be a hard sell.
That said, the car is for the gf and she didn't seem to like the Mach E so we didn't even look at it.
I was concerned about this. There was no noticeable difference on the test drive, even made her go on the highway and get it up to the limited test drive speed because I was convinced the wind noise was going to be annoying, but the updated Y is smooth and quiet. This is what all the reviews I've read have said as well, but I wanted to experience for myself because I'm sure you know how tesla fanbois can be. She went to carmax to get a trade in price on the MKC a few days later and test drove the old Y to see if the price difference for brand new was worth it. I was at work so didn't go, but she said the old Y was absolutely a downgrade from the MKC on interior materials/ride/nvh and she didn't want one of those.
On the posts I saw about cybertruck I forgot to quote - I was a reservation holder when the tow rating was 14k, mileage was almost double, and the price was almost half what it ended up being. I think they're cool af personally, but I was looking for a replacement for my 250 work truck and what ended up coming out wasn't quite enough truck for what I do. Range probably would've been fine, but not enough tow rating and price nearing what I paid for my house took me out. If I had that kinda extra cash laying around for a toy I'd prob consider it, but I haven't graduated to that level of money yet 😃
