Overzealous plant managers most likely. Hopefully corporate steps in.

Looks like a cut n paste of a Cadillac Lyriq -
Yeah, I'd agree there has to be more to the story.

It is a bit unusually draconian. In my experience repping warehouse workers and salesmen at a certain company, even in cases of obvious theft they investigated more seriously and gave a chance to respond to allegations before trying to can them. Firing now and asking questions later is a pretty blatant violation of a concept called “just cause”, which is basically due process. If it’s in your union contract you can grieve and get reinstated w/ backpay. Article says 3 previous guys got reinstated this way, the 4th probably will be too I figure. It's honestly a huge waste of both the company’s and union’s time to do it like this. I would have to think that this is something automated gone awry rather than conscious decisions.

It's pretty crazy that their first step is seemingly to go straight to firing before gathering all the info. Doesn't make sense.... Sounds like the employees get called into a room, sorry you're fired. Without even getting a chance to prove they paid?

As in you think they should still move forward with it?

Range Rover GT Is the Fifth Member of the Rover Family—Yes, It’s Electric - Autoblog Range Rover’s Fifth Model Is The Closest You’ll Get To A Land Rover Sedan | Carscoops Meet the Range Rover GT, officially teased before its big reveal later this year. As you might guess from the name, this isn’t your usual off-road bruiser. It’s a grand tourer built for eating up miles in comfort, but it still wears that unmistakable Range Rover badge. The GT is a big deal for Range Rover. It’s the first to ride on JLR’s new EMA platform and kicks things off as a full EV. Sure, it’s aimed at the tarmac, but Range Rover promises it can still handle the rough stuff – though this is easily the most car-like Range Rover we’ve seen yet. I don't understand this new trend of keeping the exterior camouflaged while completely revealing the interior.

https://nypost.com/2026/07/21/business/4-more-ford-workers-fired-over-alleged-snack-theft-after-1-95-cookie-fiasco-with-wrongfully-canned-electrician/ Man I heard stories back in the day of people "stealing" stuff from Ford (tires/wheels/etc) from plants and them keeping their jobs, but this is nuts! -

Given how the market is, it would be downright stupid for VW to kill it off in the NA market. VW is struggling here as it is and VW products barely make a dent market share currently vs 20 years ago. -

Agree, they're hoping (probably correctly) that most will not notice the total losses if broken into smaller bits.
