https://www.motor1.com/news/806962/mitsubishi-teases-smaller-pajero-models/ Apparently they want to add 2 "Pajero family" models below this Pajero.

Are companies like Toyota and Hyundai coming to the same conclusion and diverging their product lines as a result? -
I think Fathom will be smaller than Maverick.

Your looking at this through your own lens,so I'll help explain its pretty easy to understand: MAP will lose the Ranger, gain a Bronco Pickup and the Lincoln Bronco. I'd expect the Lincoln Bronco to sell maybe 20K units a year and the rest of the production can be used for the Bronco and Bronco Pickup. The Bronco Pickup will sell or should sell at a higher ATP then the Ranger does now. Tennessee Truck needs product. The "Ranger" moves there and goes through a major change into the F-100. It will still be built on the T6 platform like the Ranger, but will gain HD variants based on the Ranger SD plus other body styles that will help support Ford Pro sales. It will be akin to a 3/4 F-150 or 5/4 Ranger-at least that is the way I'm seeing this is going to work. I'm guessing what ever the Ranger has in the NA market now will directly transfer over to the F-100 for customer sales aka the Raptor etc aren't going way. The midsized market looks like it will be getting more crowded in NA and Ford needs to do something with the Ranger to make it more appealing to buyers since it is in third place, I'm guessing they want at least second place, but beating the Tacoma is going to be a slog for them. Not to mention its possible that VW also gets a pickup from TTP since they have been speaking about importing one-I don't think Ford is fond of that idea and the new F-100 would be a significant upgrade over Amrok or whatever its called vs being just a badge engineered Ranger. I'm also going to assume this: The F-150 low end models will either rise in price or models that where sold on the lower to fleet sales will be picked up in some cases by the F-100 SD where appropriate. I see plenty of cases where an F-150 is complete overkill for certain situations. I'm sure the F-100 will see some price increases also (Ford has said whatever is going there is going to be affordable aka under $40K) This will allow the Fathom and Maverick growth in price, if necessary also. I'm assuming the Fathom is going to be a bit larger then the Maverick but not as big as the current Ranger. It has its own "shortcomings" as an EV that work against it, but I'm also hoping it will win over some converts too. -
Looks like they tried to slope the hood as much as possible like the Bluebird Vision nose.

Ford should probably take a good look at how Ranger has performed in North America versus the Jeep Gladiator before they drop the Ranger. I have a 2026 Ranger Raptor and I don’t see any reason it should be discontinued and replaced by a Bronco pickup that will only be attractive to a small group of customers. Also, some talk about an F100 to be a more mainstream replacement, but why drop a legendary nameplate with cool models like the Raptor to just make a generic F100? -
And likely necessary due to legal issues. All the foreign car companies are going down this road sooner or later because the cars they sell in China will need to run Chinese developed OS and be connected to China based servers and while US in particular will not allow either. Since all new cars are software defined, it's basically impossible to make a global model that can sell in China and US at the same time without substantive engineering divergence.

Given the differences between the Chinese and US markets, it actually makes sense now.
