Based on Ford’s current circumstances, I’m getting the impression they were always going to proceed with their EV plans at a faster rate, regardless of what they have been publicly stating about their movement towards hybrids/erevs. There willingness to dump ICE products with literally nothing to replace them makes me think they were just going to quietly proceed regardless of what the customer base thought or even what the market conditions suggested. Yeah they slowed the rollout a bit, but they are still moving forward on it. They have had ICE products from foreign markets that could have worked here, if not with minor tweaks, yet they have chosen not to. Until I see an actual new ICE or even hybrid, I have no reason to believe otherwise, which is incredibly disappointing to me as a Ford fan.
We want to replace our Explorer ST with a two row utility, and Ford has nothing of interest to replace it with (the Nautilus is not being considered due to its origin), so like many, we will likely have to go outside Ford for the first time in a very long time.
The later in the Model Year that orders are placed, the higher the risk that the orders will not get scheduled and built. The scheduling window during the "Build Out" phase is not ironclad. Models commonly "Balance Out" early due to short supply and commodity restraints. For models like the F-450's, the supply and commodity issues are critical factors in early "Balance Out".
The bolt is a turd too. The bolt ev and euv sold around 60k combined in 2023. Not exactly setting the world on fire. And let’s not forget that the bolts price was around $22k after tax credits. Mustang Mach E sold 40k in 2023 and it was probably selling for twice as much.
I agree about Glacier — I didn't go either. If there's something closer to Vapor Blue, it'll definitely be a step forward.
I wonder if they'll really make "Platinum Plus" the new top. The idea sounds logical, because Limited looked a bit strange in the hierarchy. Platinum has always been more consistent across other Ford lines, so bringing structure back would make sense.
Smoked Truffle sounds much more refined too — Admiral Blue was bold, but maybe too polarizing. Would love to see a classy medium blue return, something with depth but still neutral enough to age well.
Regarding the order bank — I'm waiting for info myself. If anyone has already seen official dates or rumors from dealer sources — share!
Yeah I never got around to posting that Iveco deal a few weeks ago. Thanks 7M. I wish Farley/Ford had bought Iveco for $4 billion instead of going full tilt into the EV biz for $5-plus billion! How many points did I lose with that remark??!!!
They can’t automatically roll over. Prices and options change. Unfortunately 450 orders get slanted towards commercial/fleet accounts and don’t follow normal allocation/priority rules.
