  1. we screwed up by not building new nuclear power stations along with wind and solar. Nuclear is our best bet and we arent pursuing it !!

  2. Ford is not going to replace 3.5 EB in F150 with a V8. The CAFE and CO2 math will never work. 6.8 is highly unlike to ever see action in light duty vehicles (under 8,500 lbs GVWR) because Ford could get better CAFE numbers with a turbo V6. So no F-150 or Mustang, unless some sort of super limited edition build. The original thinking was 6.8 is the new base engine for things like Superduty and E-series but as we quickly observed, it doesn't make any sense because Ford can just put a less powerful version of 7.3 in since we don't have displacement based annual tax. So the only logical answer is that 6.8 has some specific application requirements that different from 7.3 enough to warrant a new (or partially new) top end. This is where I first guessed that it is a hybrid only engine for medium duty. Ford hasn't given any details on the engine so it's hard to really figure out where they are going with it.

  3. I’m as disappointed as anyone that my KRU will probably never have the MC seats, but here’s how I am looking at the economics to make myself feel better: I wanted the moonroof, power running boards, and LED lights anyway. Buying those options separately would have cost $3670. KRU package was $3685, so I was getting the MC seats for $15 more. With $300 credit for MC seat delete, I’m getting the three options I wanted for $285 less than if I added them separately. It would be a much tougher pill to swallow if, like some people, I only ordered the KRU package for the MC seats and didn’t care about the other options.

  4. But nothing was released from 3 Mile Island. The safety systems work and averted disaster. Technology has improved dramatically since 1979. If someone is firing cruise misses at the continental US, we’ve got bigger problems.

  5. Clearly you didn't experience many supply issues on your projects. Having also managed manufacturing projects with occasional supply chain issues, I can definitely relate to the issues currently being experienced. It's a new world out there and I'm sure glad I'm retired, as daily supply chain issues with 37 vendors is a nightmare for any project manager. I waited 8 + months for my truck and in the current climate I have no complaints, as my dealer kept me fully informed.

  6. Enough with the whining about the seats already. No amount of complaining is going to change what Ford has decided to do. The choices are accept it or cancel your order. Make your choice. Move on with your life. Stop acting like angry children.

  7. Ive been stating this since day one...here in So cal we have constant blackouts in summer when every Thomas Richard and Harold turns their A/c on at once...and that's even WITH everyone going solar...Now ram electrics down everyones throats ( and make them more enticing by screwing up oil supply, and doubling gas prices...well that's Putins fault right? ) Thats additional draw on an already depleted grid on top of that and VOILA! sheer mayhem...Classic Cart leading the Horse political BS.

  8. good luck on that...once "Electric" hits inevitable supply issues , and people begin to realize its NOT doing anything basically to "save the environment " ...let alone BEVs become more affordable, good old ICE will soldier on...as the affordable alternative perhaps....oh the irony...

  10. Now that is one hell of a product shot. If I didn’t already own a Ford, and have a new one on order I could be swayed by that picture.

  11. But will customers be willing to give Ford additional profit on the 6.8L or will they expect it to be a more cost effective solution? It may be available as a top end towing option on the F150, but I doubt it will replace the 3.5l EB or powerboost. The 3.5 simply gets better mpg for CAFE and works just fine for those who drive the truck to work everyday and tow a small boat or travel trailer on weekends. That being said, I’d like to see a short deck 4.0-4.5l coyote EB or powerboost.

  12. Keep repeating it and maybe it will sink in. There are plenty of places that will need public chargers because charging at home is not an option. For those locations where at home charging is feasible, fewer public chargers are needed. RMC and I are talking about the required number of charging locations and chargers at those locations vs pumps. Without government interference the market would determine the locations and number of chargers. Neighborhoods without electric cars and newer neighborhoods with garages and plenty of electrical capacity for home charges wouldn’t get as many or any chargers but would have gas stations. Fast chargers will be needed along interstate travel corridors and high traffic areas for those that need to fill up on the go. Now at some point, we may need a rural electrification act 2.0 to finish building out the infrastructure. But, Tesla has been managing to do that on their own as they have now added super chargers along I94 in ND. I read recently that Tesla has raised the prices at their super chargers in California to $0.58 per kWh. So much for savings a 40mpg Maverick hybrid comes out ahead in cost of ownership. Hopefully Ford adds more hybrids to the portfolio including Mustang and if it becomes a reality Thunderbird.

  13. Hello ! I am not 100% sure but it looks like the front 1 shown in pic should of been pushed behind the trucks fender just like the cloth 1 is. It was easier too trim it then play around with it & get it in flush with the cloth 1. just what I see by looking @ the pic`s. Fairway is great to work with I have used them plenty with my 2014. Have a Good 1 !

  14. Yeah, that's what I was pointing out above, especially when you're spending much more time at a charger vs. a pump. You'll have to have a lot more chargers at a given location to equal the "refill" ability of a pump. But that also gets into the argument of charging at home, so it's hard to make a direct comparison.

  15. I was just answering the question. FWIW, I've got a Plati on order too (and have since 9/3/2021). I DO want the seats, which is one reason I went with the Plati. I get lower back and sciatic pain, so my hope is that the seats would help on long trips. You get much more in the Plati for that $3k than just the MC seats. You get power running boards, better seat materials, etc. I understand people are upset, but I'm more of a realist and understand this is just beyond Ford's control. Apparently, they can't just pull the chip and give it to you later, otherwise they would do that.

  16. There are rules regulating how soon after the IPO Ford could sell - they didn't have the option to sell until recently.

  17. This! I don't know how much more convenient it can get that not having to drive somewhere to fuel the car. Unless you make long trips, this is a great advantage.

  19. Ordered Sept 3, picked up May 19. Road trip/vacation on the way home. 700 miles from Granger in the high country of CO on the way to Estes Park. In case you didn't know the bar at The Stanley hotel has a whiskey list of over 1200 whiskeys. Last night I experimented with whiskeys finished in rum barrels. A pretty nice experience. bob

  21. That’s true, I’m concerned that governments are now encouraging to the point of relying on home owners to buy solar and battery storage On a massive scale so they can avoid major spend on green infrastructure themselves. Lots of states and countries are going to face the same issues you do in California….maybe things have to get really crap before governments get booted out and we see a more sensible, pragmatic approach to power supply…..

  22. I totally agree with the above posters! I am pissed as well Been waiting over 7 Months to get scheduled and now I (we) can't get the seats that swayed us to upgrade to a King Ranch, Platinum or Limited Truck. Totally SUCKS! Ford needs to Make this RIGHT.....Build the Trucks without the Multi Contour Seats BUT Make sure that it can be Fixed Later when the parts become available at NO CHARGE and give us the $300 Discount for our inconvenience.

  23. All you guys pi$$ed at Ford, what are they supposed to do? They can't get the parts. It's not their fault, and there really isn't much they can do about it. It sucks, yes, but they are trying to make a compromise to get you the truck. I've had my Platinum on order for nearly 9 months (9/3/21), and it looks like I'm going to lose my multi-contour seats as well. That's a big reason I moved to the Platinum as I get sciatic and lower back pain after hours in the truck, so I was hoping this would help. Am I upset? Yeah, sure, but in the grand scheme of things, whadaya gonna do? It's not like you can go buy one from another manufacturer with the same goodies. They're all in the same boat. Personally, I'll probably let my truck get built, and when it shows up at the dealer, see if they'll buy it from me and I'll just keep my '17 and order a '23 and hope it gets built. Thankfully, I don't "need" a new truck. In the end, it's just first world problems and we're all just spoiled brats.

  24. One of the employees from the Kentucky plant that normally posts on the Facebook page says they are working on a fix to get the trucks out without the multi contour module. It might end up being similar to the PM sensor that is not being installed on the 6.7 PSD until a later date by the dealer. At this point I’ll take mine without the module temporarily over an indefinite wait.

  26. PRIORITY CODE, ORDER SCHEDULING & VEHICLE VISIBILITY SUMMARY Priority codes determine the order in which unscheduled orders should be reviewed and considered for scheduling. The original order date is also a consideration but is often overlooked due to applicable commodity restraints, plant constraints and other factors. Orders must meet the applicable commodity and plant constraints in order to be scheduled in the week that scheduling is done for the vehicle line. Retail order priority codes are 10-19 but the default priority code in the WBDO (Web Based Dealer Ordering) system is 19 requiring Dealers to manually assign a lower priority code with 10 being the best. Each Dealer's USOB (Unscheduled Order Bank) is exclusive to that dealership and independent from any other dealership. Stock orders use priority codes 20-80. Priority code "99" means "Do NOT Schedule". Dealers can change priority codes at any time for unscheduled orders. At the time a retail order is placed via the WBDO (Web Based Dealer Ordering) system, the customer's e-mail address should be attached to the order. In addition, the Dealer should submit the order information, signed Buyer's Order and customer's Driver's License to the COVP (Customer Order Verification Program) or applicable ROVP (Retail Order Verification Program). Verified COVP or ROVP retail orders qualify for incremental allocation and priority scheduling. COVP and ROVP orders can get scheduled at any time. Regular scheduling is normally done on Thursday mornings for weeks that a vehicle line has scheduling. Stock orders and retail orders without incremental allocation are scheduled using allocation that is determined on a monthly basis through the monthly wholesale allocation agreement between Ford and the dealership. Priority codes 01 and 02 can only be assigned by the Ford regional office or Dearborn. Unscheduled orders with 01 or 02 priority codes receive the most consideration for scheduling. Priority codes are included in the WBDO Preview order display showing the Dealership Name, Sales Code, Price Level Code, vehicle specifications, and pricing. VIN numbers and the initial assigned production week are assigned at the time the order is scheduled. Once an order is scheduled, the Priority Code has no function. This information does NOT apply to Fleet Orders which use a different Priority Code and scheduling process. Dealers have 24/7 access to the Vehicle Visibility reporting system which includes the complete order history and all scheduling, production and shipping information up to the vehicle delivery to the dealership. The default report display is for the current order status. The report will also include the rail carrier and rail car information for vehicles shipped initially by rail. The report is updated continuously and includes every status update, including the vehicle location for vehicles in transit. The Vehicle Visibility report now includes additional information for shipping delays caused by various factors.
