  1. Exclusive drone shot of the prototype T3 testing over the Product Development Center in Dearborn, MI. It should be noted that the Tesla Cybertruck does not have a porch.

  2. That's Ford Authority for you. They can turn into breaking news the fact that every new Ford design will have the windshield in front of the driver.

  3. There was a time years ago, late 1980's I believe, that I was able to attend a Ford Performance training course that was held at the Meadowlands complex in New Jersey. It was a half-day, hands-on course conducted by Bob Bondurant and his team with most of the training being one on one with a Bondurant instructor. The cars used were Mustang GT's and Thunderbird Turbo Coupes as part of the course involved anti-lock braking. The Mustang's didn't offer ABS at the time but was standard on the Thunderbird Turbo Coupes. All cars were automatics, tuned identically and driven in 1st gear to simulate a higher driving speed. For the ABS portion, the cars were driven at speed onto a simulated skid pad which was a long, large heavy duty vinyl tarp bolted to the pavement and flooded with soapy water to simulate a slippery surface. You'd drive the Turbo Coupe onto the skid pad, hit the brakes hard and stop the car before reaching the end of the skid pad. You'd do the same with the Mustang GT, without ABS, and learn how to control the car and also stop before reaching the end of the skid pad. Other parts of the course included throttle steering, slalom course and other related driving techniques. I was in an Aerostar with Bob Bondurant driving a slalom course where he started off slow and kept increasing speed until he got to the point at maximum speed, getting a wheel off the pavement, and never hitting a cone. It was a fun day and very educational.

  4. I don’t think there was ever any plan for a JV for the factory itself. Just the battery plant. Unless I missed something.

  5. The law covers this already. It’s called negligence. Giving a minor 16 yr old new driver a powerful car could absolutely be considered negligence the same as giving them access to a gun without proper training and supervision. But a 21 yr old is an adult in every consideration and is 100% responsible for their decisions and actions not the people who legally sell them something. I believe people should be held personally accountable for their actions. Period. If you’re participating in an illegal activity then you’re also responsible for whatever happens whether it’s street racing or a robbery gone bad. If you’re negligent with a minor you’re responsible. But selling legal products to adults is where I draw the line. What someone does with a Lamborghini is their responsibility. And while I don’t want to turn this into a political discussion - I feel the same way about guns.

  7. 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Lineup Gets New eMotor, More Range (fordauthority.com) Perhaps the biggest change present in the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the addition of a brand new eMotor, which was developed in-house by FoMoCo engineers and is present in all trim levels. The new eMotor weighs less than the outgoing unit and also helps deliver improved torque across the lineup. The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E extended range battery now charges around 20 percent faster than previous models when using DC fast chargers – going from 10-80 percent in 36.2 minutes, wile the standard range battery can complete the same task in a quicker 32.3 minutes as well.

  8. Yes, BMW does. The X7 also has power side shades in the 2nd row and a sunroof with power shade in the 3rd row. It also has 4 climate zones (2 in front, 2nd row, and 3rd row), which can each have their own fan speed/temperature.

  9. If, repeat if, this information is accurate, I'd have trouble believing that any Dealer having a 2025 Mustang GTD available wouldn't use an ADM to increase their dealership's profit on such a specialty vehicle. My dealership had a new Ford GT years ago it did not sell until the right customer was willing to pay a price well above the MSRP.

  10. And as far as I know, the "Right Turn on Red" laws are after a stop, not just to slow down and continue. Defensive driving these days means just that. You can't trust other drivers to do what they've indicated. I never pull out because an oncoming car indicates with their turn signals that they're actually going to turn! And never just relying on traffic lights to move because of the large volume of drivers that run the lights. And seeing how many drivers are talking on their cell phones, as they're running red lights, because their conversations are more important. And in the majority of cases, they're not even aware that they were responsible for almost causing a serious accident.

  12. I'm not particularly fond of this design. Toyota is very hit or miss with their designs. This is a miss, it's just a bunch of styling elements mashed together. I don't even like the flared fenders, I saw them on the new Tacoma, it looked like it'd been stung by a swarm of bees.

  13. Classic I’ll do whatever I want whenever I want and screw everybody else. Like the people who are in a line of 20 cars waiting to turn right and somebody jumps out of line and goes flying up just so they can bully their way back in line 10 spots closer. Zero respect.

  14. I have many stories that confirm why I don't trust turn signals, but my favorite was when I saw a half-ton truck hauling a 16' utility trailer signal for a left turn, move into the left turn lane, then cut across two lanes of traffic, making a right turn. I'm pretty sure the folks who were coming down that highway off ramp were surprised to see him coming up it...

  15. Slightly different issue but you’re completely correct. Everything is black and white and their side is good and the other side is evil. Doesn’t matter the issue. I blame social media echo chambers.

  16. I remember my driving instructor telling me I was too cautious when driving because I slowed down when making a right turn on a red. I would gradually come to a stop, check to see if anyone was coming, and then go. He told me you shouldn't come to a stop when doing that because "The drivers behind you won't expect you to and might hit you". I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

  20. New Useless Guy just joined. I worked for GMC on a research project back in the late 70's and spent some time picking parts from the assembly line as well as some factory tours. The things I saw there drove me to never buy another GM product. I'm sure Ford's lines probably were not any better, but the GM attitude was just too much for me. I left Detroit and went back home as the big city was not my cup of tea. Over the years I have bought an 83 1/2 Turbo T bird, 85 F150, 89 F150, 90(?) Probe, 95 Sable wagon and then when the new F150s came out in 96 I had to have one of those. Bought a new 2000 F150 with the 4.6 which was not real peppy but I didn't work it very hard. Started a hobby farm in the early 2000's so moved to a 2001 CCSB F350 V10. Great truck, it was fabulous to drive, that V10 was so smooth. Blew the RH center spark plug out of the head right on schedule at 70k miles. Easy fix though. Sold the farm went back to a 2014 F150 FX4, the last of the steel bodies. Then bought a 2020 F150 Lariat 502A. Getting back into camping so recently ordered an F350 Lariat CCSB SRW 7.3. Found this forum when doing research on the new trucks. Great place to find info. cheers Czar

  22. it all boils down to half the population not wanting to take personal responsibility for their actions. It’s always somebody else’s fault but their own, so somebody has to pay. Kind of like the recent hit and runs of my truck and the Explorer on separate occasions. So guess who’s paying for it now, and a hint is that it was not the dirty MF’s that did it.

  29. There are people who feel sorry for victims and want to help them even if the victim was 100% responsible for their own actions. Like people who jaywalk at night in dark clothing and get hit by a car and killed. Sorry that’s their fault not the driver. Empathy should not excuse liability or supercede the law. A certain group of people want to outlaw or ban certain things simply because it’s an easy solution that requires them to do absolutely nothing personally just so they can say they tried something so they can sleep better. The problem with this approach is it never addresses the true root cause and therefore doesn’t solve the problem. A simple example would be NYC banning large soft drinks. Does that stop people from overeating? Did it stop them from getting five refills? Of course not. But somebody slept better when that law was passed thinking they were improving people’s health.

  34. The Floorcare plant was built on an 86-acre site in Cottage Grove, MN, that was to eventually include a 400,000 sq ft Chest Freezer plant and a warehouse/rail/distribution facility. The FloorCare plant opened to great fanfare in 1977 and closed December 1984. We had no national seniority, and there was no other development of the land at that time. Today, the facility is owned by Up North Plastics, which has expanded twice, and there is a GM Distribution Center and rail yard adjacent, but I'm not sure if that is on the original Whirlpool property. I sold insurance for a short time before getting into car sales and later truck driving. I am now comfortably retired with my wife of 45 years (in a row) and my hobbies include hijacking threads.

  35. I believe I even said at the time they really should have built that new plant in Mexico or put the new EVs at Cuautitlan with Mach-E instead of converting Oakville. Or completed the remodel at Flat Rock. Especially considering how much of an unknown EV volume was back then. But remember the original plan was 5 EVs and that’s when they decided to drop Edge and Nautilus. Then it changed to just the two larger ones and now they’re stuck between a rock and a hard place with nothing in Oakville. They gambled and lost. This happens a lot with business decisions. You make a decision that makes sense at the time and then things change along the way but by the time you realize it’s no longer viable you have no backup plan. Ford gets too enamored with new shiny stuff and too often ignores the existing stuff. Sometimes it works out great - Maverick and Bronco Sport e.g. Even Mach-E, E Transit and Lightning have been moderately successful for what they are. But the new EVs starting with the Rivian and VW deals and now with Oakville have been unmitigated disasters. We’ll see what happens. I think delaying the EVs is just buying time to get a new plan together for Edge and Nautilus hybrids.
