Look forward to see where this standoff ends.  Article makes it seem as if Daimler is holding firm based on principle.  I’ve always wondered what would happen if all manufacturers refused to sell vehicles in California and other states that follow them.  I expect they would eventually have to back down.  Doubt manufacturers would stick together anyway so unlikely to escalate to that level.

Perhaps had manufacturers pushed back harder against California, maybe other states would have not joined them?  If Daimler and others were going to resist, I suppose timing now is about as good as it will likely get.

Well one thing for sure, IMO don't count on Farley to take a stand.  Seems to me he waved the white flag when he went along with all of the CARB BS as the the easiest way to insure a clear path forward.  In other words, much easier to plan your future as dictated by government.

Another thing, as far as the diesel ban in these "left coast" states, Ford should be well positioned to aggressively market 7.3/6.8 powered trucks-starting by adding air brakes to 650/750.  Instead they sit on their hands.🤔

CARB is used by 19 other states IIRC and 8 of 10 of them are the top selling auto markets...so do the math.

Man, that's a hill you're willing to die on, isn't it!  :)

Hah..I guess so.  Seems simple doesn't it?  What should be a relatively easy addition to the spec list is ignored and that addition would open up another market.

I will spare you all the reasons why it makes sense..you have heard it before....so just humor me.

Standing on that "hill" was what I was known for in my 44 yr career. Did I get a bloody nose every now and then?...yep!😎  But better than folding your tent when you know you are making sense.

PS At least I'm not saying Ford should be back in class 8!

No argument..like I said, "much easier to plan your future". But I'm not talking about "auto markets", I'm talking about a specific commercial market.

And by the way, why did you change your "handle"??🤔

The Ford Media website hasn't updated the F-650 information since the 2022 model year, and you want them to add air brakes to the gas engine?  I agree though, it would be a good move....

I have been looking for the 2026 order guides and can't find them.  2026 production was supposed to start last week.

My local Ford Commercial dealer hasn't had an F-650 or F-750 on the lot in ages.

So, it should be a snap to get one in gas then.

You would think huh?  But no, they can't afford to "engineer" it in or as I've been previously told the Godzilla creates too much underhood heat and they can't figure out how to handle that issue- an obvious BS excuse.

And 7m, plenty of 650/750's in inventory in central Mass.  One dealer has 15!

as an aside, I did a Google earth of OAP the other day.  completed yard is full of trucks....interesting either white, yellow (Penske?) or can't tell from aerial but either black or "Buster Brown".

The reason is probably true but the truth is they just can’t figure out how to do it without spending an enormous amount of money.

I'll do that for ya Bob!  They should get back into Class 8! They've made inroads here in CT having landed some F750 dump truck sales at the CTDOT. Freightliner must have talked officials into tandem axles to keep Ford out of that equation! It wouldn't be that hard for Ford to make a tandem or a tri-axle dump! Two long side rails, add some crossmembers, an engine/trans. and a dump body. By the way, I don't see any more than one Hino a month. For a while a few years ago, that was all I saw! Likewise, I don't see more than one Mercedes Sprinter van a month either! Transits followed by Ram Promasters are all I see.

Another photo from "back in the day"..LT-9000....given exhaust system this would have been an 8V-71 Detroit.  For you old guys who miss those days

Gulf LT 9000.jpeg

I was just watching Smokey and the Bandit 3 since I'd never seen it and noticed a few things. While the original movie was a GM commercial with almost every police cruiser and the Bandit Trans Am being Pontiacs and the truck tractor a GMC conventional, the third movie featured a Peterbilt, although Sheriff Justice was still driving a pitiful Pontiac something..not sure of the model. BTW, if there was going to be an episode of World's Dumbest Movies, this third movie would have been at the top of the list! After 10 minutes I couldn't watch anymore! But this pic of the L-series tanker above brought back a memory. I was at Universal Orlando back when the disaster movies were popular and the Earthquake ride had an L-series tractor/tanker that would blow up every 15 minutes!. I think it was either a mockup or maybe a real L-series shell that was gutted. Anyway, to top it off, apparently the tractor portion of one of visitor trams that hauled people around the grounds must have broken down so they used an L-series short wheel-based tractor like you'd see hauling trailer campers, to tow the tram cars! Boy did it look out of place!
